He had plucked Vincent's nerves a little too rougly, it seemed. It took effort to engage Vincent emotionally... And it only seemed to work with anger. He had to ploy him occasionally. It kept him human. It was the letter that wiped the smirk off his face. Had Feofil Peti really stooped so low as to accept aid from Pelagia Xista? And what? This was her prize in return?
He scoffed, but took the letter anyways. It seemed Vincent's description was an apt one - which wasn't surprising. "Are Feofil and Erik really doing so poorly?" He tossed the letter to the side, and finished his drink in a sour swill. "And I suppose I've no choice, hm? Certainly whatever she's promised Feofil and Erik will be defunct should I refuse." He stood and discarded his cloak. He moved to the table holding his view of the world. His symbol lay on Submiere, Niseca, Aissic, Fiamont, and Vieri. He pulled another symbol and placed it onto Muerte... Then he grabbed another and toyed it around Aurcaele. He hated Pelagia... But, he also wanted the control she could offer.
"Fine, tomorrow afternoon, if she can make that. The evening if not. Let the messengers know."

Vincent nodded and offered Woodrow a quick bow. "Very well, My Lord, I'll have her informed immediately."
He was slightly surprised; he had no more love for Xista than Lord Woodrow did, certainly. Vincent did see the value she could offer them, the potential Aurcaeli sway she could provide, considering Queen Fabelle's reluctance to allow the SSPB into her lands. But whatever value Pelagia held for them, she was so vile and contemptible that Vincent had guessed Lord Woodrow would wait as long as possible to ever engage her, not unless it was strictly necessary. She had been vying to have him on her side for ages.
So the surprise was more that Woodrow had agreed to meet with her so soon, rather than at all.
"I'm sure that if she intends to relish this chance you've finally given her, she won't dare keep you waiting. Now then, I have a number of things to see to, including those matters we've just discussed, so I'll be taking my leave. Shall I send Miss Kitai your way?"

He hated the woman Pelagia Xista. He had more than enough reason - for his purposes - to believe that she was a vile murderer and psychopath. The police in Aurcaele were pathetic. He knew that if Queen Fabelle would permit his law there, that his first order of business would be to reopen the investigation against her. He would explore every avenue. He would find something to further instil his rightness, and she would lose.
The painful part was that Queen Fabelle refused his offers, and it was only Pelagia Xista - always clamouring to meet with him - that could sway her ear, or force her hand. He had refused up to then, a matter of principal... But if the meeting could have a combined effect of aiding his allies in Atton, and getting majority control in Celestia, then perhaps it was time.
"Thank you Vincent, that won't be necessary. She'll arrive at the exact time I informed her... She's quite punctual, I'm sure you've noticed." As he spoke he began to remove his cufflinks, and the other assorted pieces holding his clothes together. He so desperately needed a real shower. Diryn water felt like it came directly from the mines.
"Oh, and Vincent... Thank you for watching over the place in my absence. There's no one else I would ever dare trust with such responsibility. Keep up the excellent work."

Vincent had indeed noticed. Punctuality was certainly one of Tehodis's stronger qualities. And it had seemed that Woodrow had already seen to it that she would be coming to see him, so there would be nothing more for Vincent to do here.
He made to excuse himself, but Lord Woodrow had one more thing to say to him. And it almost made Vincent sigh; why couldn't he just let Vincent be angry with him without having to then go and say something so appreciative? It was annoying. Particularly because Vincent could tell the sentiment was a sincere one. Lord Woodrow would not apologize for what he'd said earlier, no matter how he could tell it bothered Vincent, but he would say such things that recognized Vincent's capabilities instead, to ensure that Vincent knew just how valuable Woodrow considered him to be.
It always wound up this way. A rueful chuckle escaped Vincent as he shook his head, his back to Woodrow and his had on the doorknob. "Of course, My Lord. It is my pleasure to serve."
He opened the door and excused himself then. Vincent had work to do.
