Connections. Kali never considered that the men and women she fought or fought for would be useful any other time in her life, but it seemed that this might just be the first of many times it could be useful to the pirates. Leigh seemed impressed, and the captain perhaps even more so. She nodded when he clarified her name, and supposed she shouldn't be surprised that he would know it, as the captain, despite never really speaking with her. Leigh's idea of taking a less conspicuous ship and sailing into port under a merchant flag was quite smart, as the city would be seeing so many ships arriving for the festival it was simply a matter of sneaking in with the masses. The captain even had an idea for which ship they should use for the task. Things seemed to be running pretty smoothly for this operation and Kali hoped that continued. As long as she got to get some action, of course.
The captain changed heading and called for the ship to be prepared for their con, then invited Leigh and Kali into the main cabin to discuss the rest of the plan. Kali wasn't sure how helpful she would be for the rest of it as her expertise lay in areas outside sailing, but she followed anyway. She would leave most of the talking to Leigh and the captain, and if it turned out there was something more for her to contribute that would be all the better.

An hour ago she was just the Sailing Master's mate. Her job was simply to do whatever it was he asked... And now, thanks to a little bit of cunning, and the mere presence of Kali, she was being invited into the Captain's cabin to discuss plans. Her face wasn't capable of showing the excitement she felt, but it did quirk a smile.
She followed the captain to his quarters, and took more than a moment to take it all in. She'd imagined what it looked like, but had yet to see it. She thought perhaps she'd ask Wight this morning what he'd seen the night before - if he hadn't pussed out, of course - and had never expected to receive an invitation in. The most surprising thing to her was the fact that his sleeping arrangements weren't much different than her's. She had assumed captains slept on silk and satin. Maybe there was a reason Captain Merlyn was all that was left.
Despite her excitement at this potential new avenue in the crew, despite her mind racing with thousands of ideas for the trip to Aissic -- Leigh still knew her place. She would allow the Captain to speak first. It was his ships and crew, after all.

Merlyn went straight to a barrel near the back of the quarters, filled with maps of various regions. He dug through the scrolls, withdrawing two of them and brought them to the table. He laid one out and placed various items as paperweights on the edges. Nearly on top of it he placed the second map and did the exact same thing, placing weights to hold it down. Once they were spread out he stood on one side of the table and leaned over it.
“As of now we are on our way for the nearest port of Tarifa, we’ll take the newest ship of our fleet, the Kittihawk and masquerade as her crew. Once there we will search for information on your contact,’ he explained while giving a motion to Kali about the connection she had, ‘ from there we will go to every port until we track them down to get the prize we want.”
It all seemed a bit easy. The standard routine for tracking someone down. Surely these two would be helpful in that. “Of course something that I take pride in for those that have chosen to sail with me is the right to choose to their own path. For giving me this information, as well as having connections, I was hoping that you two would like to lend your abilities to help our mission succeed, and to do this you would be aboard the Kittihawk and in charge of obtaining an airship. My current idea has the rest of the fleet stay out at sea until a signal is sent. And then we of the Defiled Grail will present our own theatrical entrance into this Festival of Peace that is being held. So, any ideas on getting information, questions regarding possible plans, anything at all?” ____ Tags: Leigh Haskell , Kali Notes: Basically, do you wanna command a ship and perform duties for the fleet. You know, the pirate stuff of inciting violence, stealing, committing a few other crimes, all in the name of freedom?

[attr="class","wavesundtext"] Leigh couldn't help the smile that flashed on her face at the Captain's offer. She had only been here for near a year, and yet she could see why his crew were so loyal to him. Freedom. The exact thing most pirates were after - the thing she was certainly after - was something he handed out more easily than a handshake. She liked that.
"I do," She offered with a nod, then pulled a set of dice from her pocket. She was about to place them on the map but paused to look at the captain for permission. He nodded his assent and she excitedly placed the pieces about. As she spoke, she used the pieces to represent the different parts of her plan-- "Our biggest issue is going to be getting into Aissic armed. During the Festival they actually give two shits and check all cargo and persons arriving. So, here's my suggestion... The Kittihawk enters the port as it would have before we stole it. The papers were on board, I've got them somewhere in the storeroom. We store our weapons in the cargo, which'll make it easier for Wight to put an illusory glamour over it. Then... Newbie is your lead at the docks. She doesn't seem like the talking type, but she's got a secret... Charm over people--" Leigh didn't want to spoil Kali's secret, but the Captain had to know that a Satyr was an enchantress, right? -- "So she'll be able to convince any suspicious guards, particularly of the Peacekeeper variety, to lay off our backs. Once past the entrance, the cargo will get unloaded onto a caravan using the Kittihawk's papers. Anything goes wrong, we signal and the Grail makes a distraction - but I can't imagine Kali'd fail.
"From there, the caravan team dispatches the driver. We get our weapons, and then to the Underground... Which I'd say the grand majority of us have visited a time or two. We've got enough friends in low places that once we get there we'll be smooth sailing. And even if we're not, the people down below aren't gonna call a guard if we play rough. They've got too much contra down there."
As she finished, she let herself lean over the table, looking down on her plan with pride. She didn't have the guts to look the captain in the face, or even Kali who had become pretty central to a big operation, but man. This could be fun.
Kali wasn't a planner. Kali was a doer. She was the magic and muscle behind an operation so when the captain gave a brief overview of a plan and asked for their suggestions or input she let Leigh take the lead on that one. Leigh elaborated on the outline the captain had provided and gave a few more details, and everything sounded like it was definitely coming together. When Leigh said she didn't imagine Kali would fail, she smirked. Kali may not have formal training or fancy education with her magic, but if there was one thing she knew how to do without fail it was convince people to look the other way. The same effect could be accomplished with a swift kick to the head, but there was a time and place for everything. "Brilliant," Kali said after Leigh was finished. "I'm game."

A grin took over Merlyn’s face as he watched as the plan gained even more depth. To think that he would have such a person in his organization. Maybe he would have to spend more time getting to know everyone in the fleet, a task that was much more difficult now that there was more than one ship. The important job of a leader was to delegate, something that Merlyn would have to get used to as well. Ever since his piracy had turned into a movement there were a lot of changes he had to make in his own style. He had to remember that he served both as a ship captain, but also as leader of the main faction that was battling the SSPB. All the honor and glory could not be his alone, rather he would need to provide opportunities for others to also indulge in the freedom of their lifestyle.
“I like the plan, it gives me confidence that we will be victorious in our endeavors,” the Captain stated as he thought about the plan and how it would play out.
“It seems as though it would be best to leave this mission in your hands, that is if you would take it. If I were to go I doubt we would make it very far before being found out. And it would seem you already have people in mind that could pull of this feat. So, what say you both, will you steal an airship in the name of freedom and the Defiled Grail?” ____ Tags: Blank fer now Notes: We can do whatever y'all want after this

[attr="class","wavesundtext"] The bottom fell out of her stomach as she waited for the captain's approval - Kali's was nice and all, but she was just some newbie. The Captain, on the other hand... His opinion could literally mean her life in some cases. So when he said he liked the plan, but not only liked it -- wanted her to run with it she was as giddy as Leigh Haskell could be. That didn't mean she was grinning, or even smiling... But her eyes were on fire, and her stomach had catapulted back up to where it was meant to belong.
It took her a moment to gather the words, but she was damn ready when they finally came: "Aye aye, Captain."
