When Violet asked if Father had ever taught her not to just go about touching people, she looked to the ground in shame, mortified not only at her behaviour but at what it reflected on Father. But then Kiku told her not to apologize, and she dared to raise her gaze to meet his. He asked her if she had any scars, and said it was only fair that she tell him after her previous behaviour, and she visibly paled. But he had only asked if she had any scars, he didn't tell her to show him, though maybe once he found out she did he would ask to see them, or touch them like she had. It was only fair, right?
She nervously smoothed her skirt over her legs, the offending limbs covered with scars and mismatched skin. She nodded, trying not to let her gaze track back down to his legs. "Yes, I have scars. They are not battle scars though." She wanted to apologize again, but Kiku had told her not to and so she held her tongue against the words.

She would have simply leaned back and enjoyed watching the happenings in front of her (particularly the little looks Kikuriku would throw her way -- perhaps she wouldn't need to pay a visit to the Doctor after all?), but when Kiku asked Green about her scars, things took a turn for the not-so-fun. The girl's skin when a couple shades lighter, began nervously rubbing her hands over her skirt, and just all around seemed like she was almost in physical pain from... What was that? Shame?
She supposed it made sense. From what Tom had told her, Green had been in a horrid accident as a child, and her legs had needed an incredible amount of work. They were likely coated with scars. Something she was afraid of. Something she thought as ugly. And yet, there she was gaping at Kiku's - could she not see that they could be somewhat... Attractive? No, Violet couldn't hold it against her. The girl had likely never been asked to lift her skirt for a boy, let alone one as charming and good-looking as Kikuriku Gouken.
"If you want to talk shop about battle scars," Violet interrupted, hoping to take the attention off of Green so that the girl could relax, "I've got more than my fair share... I used to be quite a risky girl in my day." She winked at the two of them as she stood. She waved a hand and a few pillows trounced over to fall in between Kiku and Green, and Violet bent her leg on it, not needing to move her thigh-cut skirt at all for them to see her perfectly clear legs. "I make a point of hiding them when I'm around less pleasant company, but..." She closed her eyes for a moment, and it was as if an illusion was being removed. Her legs were covered in scars, particularly towards the thigh. Some were obvious cuts, others seemed like rough burns, while others had a distinctly bite-like look them.
"But this one is my most recent," She explained, this time lifting her shirt off as she closed her eyes. In time with her lifting her shirt, a horrid looking radial scar could be seen to appear whose edges touched her shoulder, went down her left arm, and seemed to have its centrepoint just above her heart. She tossed her shirt to the side, and traced the ugly thing with a finger, wincing a bit when she got too close to the more sensitive areas in the middle. It hadn't fully scarred quite yet. "Got that little chestnut in the frozen reaches of Aissic, just before I came back home. I swear, it's magicians that are the absolutistly worst, huh?"

As soon as Violet showed off her scars, Kiku felt embarrassed by his own lack of scars. Even Green admitted that she had scars – though they weren’t battle scars – and he felt like he was pathetic with his one bite mark. It was smalltime in comparison, but could he really be that upset? He wasn’t super scared – it just meant that he was successful in not getting stabbed, shot, bitten (much) or gutted in his life. It was more of a victory.
Green didn’t seem to want to show off her scars, which Kiku could understand. She seemed the shy sort, and he didn’t want to push her. Some people were very self-conscious, and it wasn’t his business exactly. Maybe he’d see them some other time, when they were closer friends. He reassured her with a smile (which Kiku noticed he was doing a lot of this evening). “It’s okay, Greenie – they don’t have to be battle scars to be cool! Scars tell stories!”
When Violet removed her shirt, Kiku was awestruck. Not at her body (which wasn’t particularly remarkable, but still quite lovely to behold), but what was all over her body. A huge scar that seemed like a treasure trail of sorts that travelled all over the left side of her body. Kiku was about to ask what had caused that, but Violet sort of hinted at it in typical Violet fashion. “Well that whopper looks pretty badass. Magicians, eh? I think I’ve had a running in with one of those… she was alright though. A little sassy… short tempered. But harmless!” Kiku got up close to Violet’s scar, completely ignoring personal space; so close, in fact, that he could feel is own breath hitting him in the face.
“I guess you didn’t find a nice one? What’s the story here?” Kiku looked up at Violet.

Green was infinitely grateful to Violet, something she never thought she would think, when the other woman took the attention away from her to talk about her own scars and showed off quite the number on her legs as well - scars which she kept hidden using her magic from the looks of it. Green wondered if Violet would be able to hide her scars as easily as she hid her own. Was that something her magic could do? She wanted to ask, but not right now.
Kiku smiled at her again and it was really sweet of him to say that scars could be cool even if they weren't battle scars. He said all scars had stories, and he was right about that - unfortunately her story was not a happy one. Kiku didn't know her story. Truth be told even she didn't know her real story. But regardless, his words came from a place of kindness and that was enough to make Green feel better about things. That and the way Violet was showing off her own scars to take the pressure off Green worked together to have her feeling a little more at ease.
Violet took off her shirt to show off her biggest scar, and also evidently her most recent as she explained she had gotten it recently. She said it was from a magician, and complained that they were the worst. Green knew Violet could do magic, and Violet should know that Green could do magic, so she hoped her sentence wasn't including present company because Green's magic wasn't to hurt others but to protect them and keep them safe. Kiku said he met a magician recently, but he didn't know that Green could use magic, yet. She wondered if she should mention it since they were already on the topic, but she hesitated and the moment passed - Kiku was leaning in to get a better look at Violet's scar and asking about the story behind it.

She could tell Green was relieved - she could usually tell those things about people, even if she might never act on noticing them, even if she might completely ignore those feelings entirely for the sake of making people even more uncomfortable - and she was glad. Green was a delicate little flower who was so, so, so deeply out of her depth, and Violet couldn't help but want to protect her. At least a little.
Kiku and Violet on the other hand, seemed to be perfectly in their depth. He closed in on her, leaning into her chest and looking at the messy scar. She couldn't decide if he were just using it as an excuse or not - she didn't mind either way. She hummed a little as his stubble brushed against her lightly, and she knew for certain that if Green weren't here she'd have a very different answer to his question. If Green weren't here, she'd close that little inch of space quite readily, and she'd make up some sensual little tale. But Green was here, and she had to admit that she quite enjoyed the idea of Green and this dashing scoundrel together. Well, maybe not so much so that if Kiku kept up this closeness that she wouldn't reciprocate. He did have his pants around his ankles, after all, and a woman could only resist so much.
But no, Green was here. And she was sweet. And she far too quiet. This just wasn't fair. Violet smiled down at Kiku (what a sight), and then lightly pushing his head away with one finger on his forehead as she answered, "You'll have to read about it in my exposé, darling." She didn't bother to put her shirt back on, perfectly comfortably in the bra, but did slump back down onto one of the mattresses, "It's a story about missing children, and the hero who travels the world to find them... With a little help, of course, from an intrepid journalist. I'm certain it'll get the front cover, hm?" She vogued, pouting with a cover-ready face. Newspapers didn't have covers, but she wouldn't miss a chance to pose.

Violet teased him playfully, pushing Kiku back lightly with just her finger. If the situation were different, he’d take this as a sign of foreplay. Hell, it might actually be foreplay, but Kiku didn’t think Green would appreciate that very much. She was already such a shy girl, who knows if she’d had any idea what to do in a more intimate setting.
As Violet posed, Kiku couldn’t help but chuckle. “Newspapers don’t have front covers, Vi,” Kiku laughed, knowing full well that she wasn’t being serious. “But what’s this? A hero on a harrowing journey to save the children? Around the world? I’m so intrigued – I hope this spot comes out soon.” The idea of adventure reminded Kiku of his own journey with Rose. Though there wasn’t exactly children being saved, they were in the process of saving the world… so maybe that counts? That counts.
Kiku didn’t know where to lead the conversation from this point. His hope that a journalist would take an insane interest in Ichabod was a failure; his secondary hope for a multi-party bedroom adventure wasn’t a go… what else was there? Would it be awkward to just get up and leave? “…Say, slightly off topic… but you’re a reporter slash journalist slash person who clearly knows a wide array of people,” Kiku nodded his head towards Green – who Kiku would never believe would be friends with someone like Violet. “If you were looking for someone – maybe you needed to find a person for a story – how would you go about doing that? I mean, if they were hiding or missing?”
His thoughts were suddenly on his mother. Kiku had heard that good reporters always got their story – and if Violet was able to have that many scars for the sake of stories… she must be a damn good reporter.

A part of her, wished that Green wasn't here, so that she could do to Kiku all of the things she was thinking about now. Another part of her, wished that Kiku wasn't here, so that her and Green could talk about Kiku the way that girls were supposed to talk about men and in a way she'd never had much opportunity to do. And the third part of her, wished that she wasn't here. Which she supposed was the one of those options she could most easily make happen. She could up, walk out the door, and leave the two young and beautiful people to the kinds of things young and beautiful people were supposed to do.
But Violet was also selfish, and she would happily admit to it. Besides, Kiku was changing the topic now, and it had sparked Violet's interest once again. "Oh deeeeaaar," She made a faux-shocked face, swiping her hand through the air and bringing a cardboard box sliding across the floor with a violent speed. "I do hope you haven't been taking advantage of us, darling--" She leaned over and pulled Green close to her, wrapping her arms around the girl, "I don't think Greenie could bear it!" Had she never touched Green? Her skin felt cooler than a normal person's. A tad... Moist, too. Perhaps that was just Green in a state of arousal? Violet quickly let go of Green, wiping her skin absently.
"Well, while I have my methods of finding people - and I've done plenty of finding, I'd be more interesting to hear from our little Miss here. Not only have you been dreadfully dull, Greenie, but I know you're clever. Now... How would you answer Keeks' question?"
OOC. Sigs told me to post before Green, so post I did! Wooooo. Acacia-Green !

Violet said she would talk about her new scar in her coming expose, a story about missing children and the man who was searching the world to find them - and she was helping him! It sounded like it was an exciting adventure too. Seemed like both her and Kiku lived very exciting lives. It kind of made Green want to live an exciting life too. She immediately felt bad for thinking such a thing because her life at home with Father was nice, and comfortable, and safe, and she shouldn't want for any more than that, but...
The two of them seemed to really live their lives on their own terms, and it worked so well for them. They both had a carefree way of acting and talking and sharing their amazing stories that Green couldn't even pretend to match. She envied it, in the way that she sometimes envied how much time and attention Father gave to Violet when she came over. Violet still had no shirt on and Kiku still had no pants on, and neither one seemed to care about that. They were comfortable in their own skin in a way that Green never had been. These feelings felt wrong somehow, but she didn't know why. Shouldn't she feel comfortable in her own skin, and her life? Somehow she felt like Father wouldn't like that.
Kiku was asking Violet how she would find someone who was hiding or missing and she waved over a box before pulling Green in and lamenting that she couldn't handle if he had been taking advantage of them. Green was surprised by the sudden touching, and she watched as Violet wiped her hand off when she did let go. Violet said she wanted to pass the question off to Green and said she had been very dull so far, causing Green to look to the ground and flush a bit with embarrassment. She knew she wasn't as interesting as Violet or Kiku, Violet didn't have to rub it in.. but then she also said that she knew Green was smart, and asked how she would answer Kiku's question.
"You could ask a strong diviner? They can find people, sometimes easier if you have something that belongs to the person or an idea of where they might be. Or you could put up wanted posters, I hear those work well."
Post by Kikuriku Gouken on Jan 26, 2017 20:07:13 GMT -7
Keeks was not a name that Kikuriku had heard before, but he liked it. He’d spend so much time calling Violet and Green by their wonderful nicknames, so he figured that it was about time that he got one. Kiku wasn’t really a nickname – just short form. Keeks had style.
Unfortunately, Violet was rather evasive in her answer about how she found people. She didn’t outright say that she wouldn’t tell Kiku how she did it – she just deflected the question onto Green. Green – whom Kiku imagined had only met a handful of people in her entire life – actually had quite valuable advice; go to a diviner. Kiku had heard of them, but had never been to one before. He only needed an idea of where the person was, or something that belonged to them.
Unfortunately, Kiku had neither of those. The only thing that he had from his mother was a note that read I forgive you, Mom. He wouldn’t necessarily say that it belonged to her – but maybe it was enough. It was worth a try, at least. He didn’t have the note on him – it was in a case of his belongings somewhere in Muerte. He’d almost thrown it away… now he was glad that he didn’t.
“Hmm, I like the diviner idea – that could be quite helpful. Or like, a private investigator or something. A wanted poster wouldn’t work, I don’t think… I have a hard time remembering what she looks like.”
Kiku could focus his mind as hard as he wanted, but particulars about his mothers’ face always seemed to elude him. He couldn’t remember his mother’s eyes, or what colour her hair was or even how she smelled – not that that was pertinent information for a wanted poster.

A diviner, that was a good idea. They tended to run expensive though - if you wanted the real deal. Violet wouldn't admit to her use of them in the past when she was desperate... But, she had definitely used them for the harder to find subjects. It was an easy out if you had the cash, and Kiku did have a La Cherie bag... But he also didn't look the type to have one. She couldn't quite decide if he could afford that kind of help.
A wanted poster was also a decent idea, when you had a lead. Follow up on it with some kind of visual enhancement? People were visual creatures, seeing an image tended to jog the memory. Green might not have been on the money - but she was warm. And that was without any experience or training! Violet smiled with pride and ruffled the girl's hair absently.
"Nice job Greenie-- You know, I've been looking for an apprentice lately. You might just fit the bill, hm? ...As for what I would do," She flopped back from Green and snagged the journal and quill, once against scribbling, "The first step is to find out what you KNOW. If you don't know what you know, you're never gonna be able to know the things you don't know, right? Right. Then once you know what you know, you figure out where they were last seen, and use what you know, to find out what other people know. Someone knows something, so you gotta talk to everyone. I can't even begin to count how many people I've talked to in just the last two days, let alone my lifetime. You get used to talking, you know? So-- once you know what they know, you'll have a trail. You follow that trail, and keep adding to what you know... And almost everytime-- you'll find what you're looking for!" She held up the journal which was incomprehensible scribbles and a lot of the word "know", but it seemed to make perfect sense to Violet, "The other time, well, you find something else." She smirked at this, her methods had failed her only once, and that once -- well, there probably wasn't anything to find. And instead of finding what she thought she would find, she found Doctor Dunn and Green. Which certainly wasn't a bad thing.
"If you tell us what you know, I bet I could find you a trail," She smiled and pulled the box up to her lap, flicking through it absently before winking and adding: "Especially with Greenie's help."
