Simon could pretend to be sorry for causing such a reaction from Endless, except he wasn't sorry at all. In fact, if he had the choice of doing it again just to watch his face flush he would - the rest of the reaction was just extra fun. And was he a little happy to hear how vehemently Endless denied sleeping with Tehodis? Yes, of course he was. In fact he seemed utterly appalled at the very idea, and seemed to be horrified that Simon would think such a thing. Simon, meanwhile, was really enjoying the show. Like, really enjoying it. He probably very obviously looked amused, and maybe less obviously he also maybe bit his lip, which didn't stop him from smiling a moment later at another wild flail of Endless's hands. If he licked his lips at some point it was because it was dry in here and not because he was imagining any other situations in which Endless might be flushed and wild-eyed, no sir-ee bob.
Simon was glad Endless didn't seem able to look at him right now because he couldn't look away, and was glad not to worry about being caught staring. Seriously, the flush on his cheeks, giving his pale skin just a little bit of colour, was driving Simon crazy. He tried not to think about it, but seriously. He was right there, being incredibly adorable, and super cute, and really just unfair. He said that he and Tehodis had gone somewhere, but neither of them remembered it, and when he said 'geez Simon', Simon couldn't stop himself from laughing. Geez Simon indeed. He was still just so stoked to hear Endless was apparently very not interested in her.
Simon watched with amusement as Endless crossed his arms, and his legs, and fidgeted around a bit and still couldn't meet Simon's gaze. Eventually he got up and made to walk around a bit, asking with the most feigned of feigned casualness what Simon's story with Lila was. Simon crossed his own arms then and raised an eyebrow. "Wouldn't you like to know," he replied teasingly, flashing a joking kind of grin. "I kid I kid, you told me the story of you and Tehodis so prepare for me to regale you with the thrilling tale of Simon and Lila!" He waved his hands like a showman, as though it was going to actually be a thrilling tale. "I was picking herbs today when she showed up and asked to come inside where it wasn't cold, and we had tea and a bit of a chat. Then you two showed up! It was all very exciting." Simon was actually very glad that Charlotte had been here, or Tehodis may not be. Funny how things worked out sometimes.

He could imagine himself hitting Simon for that. Granted, it probably wouldn't hurt much, and Endless would probably just hurt his own knuckles trying, but heck, Simon was being such a little bastard about this. Obviously Endless wouldn't ever actually hit him and he was mostly just kidding himself but seriously??? All that teasing and then he has the audacity to act all coy about his relationship with Lila? Only to then reveal that she literally just showed up that day and simply happened to be here.
Endless was leveling a very serious pout at Simon at the moment and feeling incredibly silly with himself. To think he'd been concerned for a moment over Simon's implications... In the end it shouldn't have even mattered to him. Crush or no crush, he and Simon were not a thing. He was just a boy Endless maybe enjoyed spending time with. And it would be cool if maybe something happened there, sometime, maybe, when Endless felt a lot less insecure about it, but until such a time, it's not like he had any say over who Simon did... whatever, with...
He didn't really know what to say now that Simon had thoroughly enjoyed himself at Endless's expense and was smiling that stupid endearing smile, so Endless just coughed, cleared his throat, and sat back down.
"Well... I guess I shouldn't really be surprised that someone like you would get visits from random fortune tellers." Then he blinked thoughtfully. "She is a fortune teller, right? Like that's definitely what she seemed like."
There was something unendingly endearing about Endless's shyness and bouts of awkwardness. Simon didn't think he would ever tire of it. He wasn't normally one to find such a thing attractive, but it was really working for him with Endless. He tapped his fingers absently on his knee and chuckled when the other boy spoke. "She is most definitely a fortune teller," he replied. "And I get visits from lots of people! I'm very popular, you know," he joked with a wink. "Though admittedly, most of my visitors are customers, so I guess they wouldn't count..."
He trailed off a bit and for a moment his smile faltered, but then he perked up a bit and spoke again. "Have you ever gotten your fortune told? I'm pretty sure Lila would be happy to do a reading if you asked nicely. Or for money. She offered me a reading in exchange for hanging out, but I'm not much of a future guy. Too much pressure."

Endless gave that matter some thought and eventually ended up smiling in a manner that was probably cautiously optimistic. "I've never really had my fortune told, no. I guess I've always kinda found the idea a little worrying for some reason... But, I am kind of curious. Although I don't really have any money I'd be able to give her, considering all my stuff got confiscated."
He sank further into his chair and grumbled about that for a moment, his shoes tapping against the floor in light agitation. "Hey..." he asked, after a moment. "Can fortune tellers look at the past, too? I feel like I remember reading that somewhere. Because now that you got me thinking about it, I wonder if she'd be able to see the stuff me and Tehodis can't remember?"
Simon would agree with Endless on the 'knowing the future is worrying' thing, though perhaps it would be moreso for a moonborn like Endless than for Simon himself. When he mentioned that all of his things were confiscated so he wouldn't have any money to pay Charlotte if she did a reading, Simon waved a hand like it wasn't something to worry about. "I'll cover it," he offered while Endless was grumbling about the confiscation of his things. How much was a fortune told by a genuine diviner? More than a fake fortune teller probably, but whatever it was it was probably chump change to him. He sold a lot of expensive charms and potions.
Endless asked if fortune tellers could look a the past as well and wondered aloud if she would be able to see the things that he and Tehodis couldn't remember. "Most fortune tellers are barely worth the name - minor diviners who didn't have enough talent or skill to do anything else with their magic or worse, people just pretending in order to trick people out of their money. But looking into the past is easy enough for most decent diviners. After all, the past is fixed so you don't have to spend as much energy sorting through all the possible realities to find the most likely ones, because there is only one reality it could be, and that's the one that it was. Any diviner worth their salt could tell you your past. Unless there's some powerful magic or your own will blocking the reading, Lila could look at your mysterious, meaningful event no problem."
Endless knew that Simon was a diviner himself, as it had been one of the many topics of discussion the first, and last, time that he had been here, but Simon didn't offer to do the reading himself. He could do it, probably just as well as Charlotte unless she had whatever voice helped her with divination, but he wouldn't want to. It would be too.. intimate, invasive, for him to go digging in Endless's past like that. No matter how curious he might be about it.

Simon gave Endless the answer to his question in the form a concise explanation on what real diviners could do. To be honest, Endless had heard plenty about Fortune Tellers who were total fakes; the kinds of people who just told you what you wanted to hear and didn't know a thing about the future. The profession had a bad reputation in general thanks to the high number of people who weren't the real deal. He wondered why that was, though. Why was it that so many fakes became Fortune Tellers? Or, better question, why didn't more actual diviners take up the job so that there would be fewer charlatans?
He found himself thinking about Simon, who had told him before that he was actually a diviner, but didn't like using his own magic. It was a curious thought, but after having thought about it back then, Endless came to the conclusion that Simon must have felt the same way Endless did. Knowing the future could be worrisome. It could be a burden. It could fill you with some unshakable anxiety if you knew something was going to happen that you couldn't change. Endless supposed that that explained it right then and there, then; maybe most diviners just didn't want that burden. Maybe most of them didn't become Fortune Tellers because they didn't want to see the future for others. Maybe they didn't want to see potential tragedies that couldn't be avoided.
If that were true, it gave Endless another reason to respect this Lila person. Simon seemed to imply that she was definitely the real deal, and she seemed to know exactly what to do to help Tehodis. She seemed... kind of spooky, when he'd met her. But it made Endless wonder how many people's futures she had seen. It made him wonder how many burdens she'd had to carry because of it.
He spent several long moments thinking about all of this before nodding decisively to himself, then blinking and giving Simon an awkward sort of smile. "Sorry. Was just thinking... And, I guess if you say she should be able to see what happened with no problem, it'd probably be good to ask her, but..." He sighed, shoulders slumping. "Now I'm wondering if I even want to. Maybe it would be better not to. I think... I think more than anything, I just want to be able to remember it for myself, you know? Although I appreciate you offering to cover it if I did ask her, heheh..."
Endless's eyes searched the room, and landed on the plant that Tehodis had been examining earlier. "It... never really occurred to me to ask, but. Couldn't you just make a potion that could help me do that?"
Simon bounced his legs absently while Endless appeared lost in thought. He tried not to let his mind wander, but it was really hard. Eventually Endless nodded, though it seemed to be in response to his thoughts more than anything Simon said, and he smiled his heartmeltingly adorable smile when he apologized for getting lost in thought. Simon did not tell him that he could watch him be lost in thought all day, or anything of the sort, and instead just returned the smile and shrugged, and tapped his fingers against his knee absently while Endless continued to speak. He debated aloud whether he actually wanted to ask Lila about it, and said that maybe he just wanted himself to remember. That made sense - if Simon couldn't remember something he would be a little sketched out trying to make someone else remember it to tell him about it. Like, if he couldn't remember it then who knew what he had done? What the other person would see? And if you still didn't remember it at the end, how could you be sure they were telling the truth when they said what happened?
Endless seemed to realize something and said that he'd never thought about it but couldn't Simon make a potion to help him remember, and Simon nodded. "Yes, I could do that," he replied easily. He'd made tons of memory potions. The ones to remember things could sometimes be more tricksy than the ones to forget things, because again if someone didn't want to remember something not even a potion could help them. "If you're sure you want to remember." He hadn't meant for it to sound so ominous.

Endless nodded back to Simon, this time more surely. "I definitely want to remember. Whatever happened back then, I feel like I need to remember it, you know? It nags at me all the time. I just know it was something really important, something that had... some kind of impact on my life. And when I find myself feeling like that, it makes me wonder how I ever forgot about it at all. If you could help me with that, I think I'd really appreciate it."
Endless assured him he did want to remember, and Simon nodded back, already mentally compiling the ingredients and ratios and preparations for what he would need to make. He still listened as Endless explained that it nagged at him and that he felt bad for not remembering, given how important and impactful it had been on his life. Simon couldn't help but pause and wonder if something could truly impact you if you didn't remember it happening - wouldn't that be the same as it not happening at all? Maybe once he remembered it would impact him more. Simon hoped that it wasn't something terrible that he would help Endless remember, because perhaps there were some things better to forget.
Endless said he would really appreciate it if Simon could help him and he clapped his hands together, standing up and announcing, "Well then, one memory potion coming right up!" He moved over to his work table and put a hand on it to steady himself when he realized standing up so quickly might not have been the greatest idea. He reached up and grabbed some of the plant from earlier, picking off a few leaves and throwing them into a bowl. "This'll work best if you help make it, because it'll have some of you in it, yknow?" He glanced over at Endless and flashed a smile. "If you're ok with that, I can tell you a few things to do?"

Endless was rather surprised at how... gung-ho Simon was about this, so soon. As soon as Endless had given his confirmation it was like the potioneer required nothing further to immediately set to work. Endless had sort of thought maybe Simon would wait a while, rest for a bit longer, but clearly he was intent on doing this now.
"Uh, r-right," Endless replied, hopping to his own feet at Simon's instructions. "I don't mind helping. Anything to make it work better, right? What do I have to do?" he asked, turning to face the work counter where Simon had already started to gather up the ingredients. He wasn't aware of it right away, but as the two had been talking the sun had nearly finished its descent outside, the winter days shorter than last month, and the glow of the moons had already started to fill the sky.
