Meren paused as the Kreen walked into the bar. He had heard about the Thri-Kreen, and their fearsome reputation for cannibalism. Still, he had kept his cool, and did not seem to react as the bug lady sat down. He did note that she seemed to have been eyeing him quite a bit in a way that was reminiscent of how an eagle might see a real mouse. He would have to keep an eye on her, that is assuming he was going to go with this crazy plan. So far the thing keeping him in his seat were the bounties, which were quite handsome indeed.
Then he heard a bunch of angry ranting from the Gnome which grated on his sensitive mousey ears. To be honest he understood her rage. If some haughty elf had called him incompetent with firearms, it would have irked him in a similar manner as it seemed to have bothered Gurk.
But feelings of sympathy drained as he saw Gurk pull a grenade out of thin air.
Instinct took over as he put a hand on his pistol, ready to pull it out at a moments notice. He wasn't sure if he could take out Gurk before she set the thing off though, since he wasn't 100% on how her grenades would work. Honestly, he didn't really want to have to shoot her at all. Despite some missgivings, Gurk didn't seem like a bad person. Unhinged maybe, but not evil from what Meren could detect.
Janus seemed to have tensed up himself, for the first time in the meeting. He seemed ready to take cover.
The only one who didn't seem to react whatsoever to the grenade was Four Swords. She didn't seem to be afraid of what was going on at all. Meren had to admire her bravery. She merely replied to Solana with a curt if respectful nod.
Then Solana tossed the bomb outside the window. Janus and Meren seemed to relax somewhat.
Four Swords still seemed oddly calm, except it was just now that Meren noticed that one of the Kreen's hands had been on one of her blades.
There was a pause.
"Well. With the test of Miss Gurk's skills out of the way..." Spoke Janus. "Perhaps we should prepare to settle the tab and depart. Once on the way to our destination, I may be able to brief you all further." He looked around. "It would perhaps be... rude to stay after that excitement."
Four Swords made a click of annoyance. "I was hoping for a decent meal..." She muttered. Then she looked at the bounty posters. Perhaps she could have a meal while on the job...
