10 of the Winter Storm (open to change), somewhere in Niseca
Tinypaw had been sent here on a mission. Apparently one of the bears had awoke from hibernation early and was wreaking havoc on a small village of farmers, none of whom really had the capacity to fight off a bear. It had already killed three sheep and a chicken, and Tinypaw had been selected as the animal talent fairy most capable for the job. With his natural charm and strength with animals he was sent out on an urgent mission to calm the bear and send him back to his den to return to hibernation.
Tinypaw had of course accepted the job willingly as it gave him a chance to return to the mortal world and do something useful, and he really was good at his job so he hoped to be of good help to the villagers. He had put on his usual leather armour with a belt holding his sword and round shield at his waist, all of which just ended up looking adorable when he appeared in the mortal world the size of a common mouse.
The fairy ring he walked out of was near the village which was so small Tinypaw wasn't sure it even had a name, but it wasn't near enough for him to walk there at his size. He couldn't fly there on his own as he didn't have wings, so his first order of business was to find a bird he could catch a ride on.
He started trekking through the grass, his eyes in the trees looking for a suitable bird, when all of a sudden a shadow passed over him and he barely jumped out of the way before someone's foot landed were he had previously been standing. He knew he was super small, but still. Looking up at the person who almost stepped on him he called out, "Careful with your feet!"

Inspiration comes in all sizes!
Cherry was in a funk. A block. A concrete cube, situated soundly in her noggin, right on top of that part of her brain where she came up with fantastic combinations of color and fabric and splashes of weird. And the metaphorical pick axe, sledge hammer, and dynamite were proving ineffective at dealing with the annoying little monster, which, you know, made it pretty hard to get any work done! Well, she had had experience in this sort of thing before, of course. When all other avenues of inspiration failed, the best thing to do if you couldn't break the design block was to instead have it, just, slide right off your brain! Use some butter.
And right now Cherry's butter was gonna be in the form of taking a walk to a rustic little non-village where the people there probably had like, nothing decent to wear, and Cherry was gonna just be overflowing with ideas once she saw them! She'd even thank them, maybe, with some free stuff. Then they'd be the envy of Niseca, they would. And it would aaaaaaall be thanks to Cherry and her magnanimous, glorious, and good heart.
She was in the midst of acting out her fantasy, one hand placed delicately on her chest in a humble manner, eyes closed as she smiled and waved at no one, when a voice caught her attention.
"Careful with your feet!" it said.
"Oh, oops!" she replied, opening her eyes and looking around. She must have gotten carried away with her imagination again. Had she tripped someone? Maybe stepped on their foot? That would be very decidedly not fun. She'd have to do all kinds of things to apologize for that. Like offer to give them a makeover. Yes, yes, it would be a harsh price to pay, but Cherry was, as always, incredibly penitent.
However, looking around did not show her anyone in particular. She frowned, sure she hadn't imagined that voice she heard. She glanced down at her technicolor heeled boots, wanting to check and make sure she hadn't accidentally knocked them over, when...
"Oh. My. God."
Standing down near her feet, possibly no larger than three inches tall, was a little mouse wearing a tunic and what looked like some kind of armor, and was that an acorn cap??? Holy shit. Oh my god. This was the cutest thing Cherry had ever seen.
"Oh my goooood," she said again, now crouching down to her knees. She might have looked strange to an observer; a Lamini girl with reddish hair in a rainbow-colored dress that was intentionally frayed around the ends - the skirt, wrist cuffs, and queen ann neckline all opening up like flower petals - with hair piled up on top of her head in curled mounds decorated with more flowers (and wearing all this in the middle of winter no less), stooped over and appearing as though she was talking to nothing in a pile of snowy grass. Cherry liked to believe she looked more like one of those legendary fairies of yore who could assume normal people sizes and bless you with wonderful magical gifts.
"Who are you?" she asked of the little mouse man on the ground, smiling widely. "You have got to be the most precious thing I've ever seen!"
Tinypaw was glad to hear the much larger person say oops, because it at least meant that they had heard him and that they were at least mostly sorry about having almost stepped on him. It was a good start, as sometimes people just kept on walking and didn't even care. He was brushing off some errant snow when he heard the person gasp 'oh my god', and he looked up to see the person looking down at him with The Face™. Yes, that face. Almost everyone who saw him made the face, it didn't matter who it was. Guys, girls, humans, orcs, big scary intimidating people, little old ladies... everyone made the face.
The person, who Tinypaw would hazard to guess might be a Lamini despite the unique hair colour, crouched down and repeated herself, this time drawing it out. Tinypaw smiled, maybe a little embarrassed as he usually was, and waved a paw. It didn't help. He could see she just thought it was even more adorable. She asked who he was, and followed it up by saying he was the most previous thing she had ever seen. He chuckled and rubbed his hands over his ears from back to front, flattening them down for a second before they popped back up. A nervous thing he did sometimes which, he had been told, also looked adorable. "Oh, um, thank you," he started, and then bowed and added, "I'm Tinypaw. And yourself?

ENDLESS JOY!!
Tinypaw. Tinypaw. His friggin name was Tinypaw!! Cherry was in love. Or dead. Done. She might have been crying? Like wow.
He was a little mouse man named Tinypaw and he gave her a little wave with his TINY PAW OOOOH and she honestly could have just died right there, no joke.
"I'm!" Oh man, what was her name again? Right, right. She took a deep, dramatic breath, calming herself down with one hand's fingertips resting against her chest. "I'm Cherry, hi! It is, like, the greatest possible pleasure to meet you? Like wow. Also this might be a weird question but, do you maybe want me to make you a little outfit? Please say yes."
Maybe he should have used his pseudonym. Would Theodore have been better? The woman looked like she was having a very intense reaction to all of this, like she might actually explode, or cry? She seemed nice though, and when she introduced herself as Cherry he thought at least she also had a very fitting name. He assumed it was because her hair was red, because that would certainly be how she would be named if she was a fairy. Fairy Cherry.
She said it was a great pleasure to meet him and he was happy to hear that although really he could have been a terrible horrible person and she had no idea really. He wasn't a terrible horrible person, at least he certainly didn't think so, but she didn't know that. She offered to make him an outfit, and he would agree that that was maybe a little bit of a weird question. He had actually been asked similar questions before but mostly from people offering him the clothing from a little doll and not to actually make him clothes. He eyed her outfit perhaps, which really would be a great outfit on a fairy - was she maybe actually a fairy? She would certainly be a good one - but he wasn't particularly big on so many colours. He was mostly a brown and grey kind of mouse, and it worked best when he dealt with animals too because animals were used to browns and greys and greens but maybe not to bright rainbow colours.
"Oh um, sure! Thank you kindly Miss Cherry. I actually came here on an important job though so perhaps afterward? There's a bear around here that has been causing havoc and I have to stop it. I was actually just looking for a good bird to ride.."

I'm thinkin' sweater? Sweater.
Was he serious? Like was he actually serious right now.
"Oh shut up you do not ride a bird around," she said. The words on their own were something most people would find rude, but the way she said it clearly indicated she was actually incredibly awed and perhaps extremely excited to actually see that. Actually, with the way she had flung her hands up to her mouth, fingers hovering in front of her lips as though she had just gasped at something shocking, the excitement was probably extremely visible.
She had come this way in the hopes of finding inspiration for the people in the nearby village, but now all she could think of were a ton of tiny outfits for this small mouse, maybe with some bird-sized adornments to put on his noble steed. What kind of bird was it? That was important, if she was gonna make it a little outfit too.
"Can I help you look for one?" she asked, though it came out almost as quietly as a whisper, hushed, as her eyes were wide and very much looked like they might be on the verge of tears.
When the woman spoke again he quirked his head to the side a bit, a little confused. She told him to shut up, that he didn't fly around on a bird, but it sounded more like she was just in disbelief that such a thing was done than insisting he actually didn't do it. He supposed she was probably used to fairies with wings of their own, who didn't need to borrow birds for such a thing. Or maybe she didn't realize he was a fairy at all and thought he was just a sentient mouse. It honestly wouldn't be the first time.
She was very expressive, this Cherry. He decided he liked her.
"Yes actually that would be lovely, thank you," he responded when she asked in awe if she could help him find one. "If I could step on your hand and you lift me up I could get a better view, and if we spot a good bird I can whistle it over."

This may be the most fulfilling moment of my life
Cherry sucked her bottom lip into her mouth as she held her hands out, allowing fucking Tinypaw to walk his mousy little feet onto her palms, and she was in heaven. She slowly stood up, keeping her upturned palms level so that he could stand comfortably, and started rotating around in a circle, her own eyes too busy watching him to actually be looking for a bird.
"So like, do you put a little saddle on it? Can it be any kind of bird? Or is there a certain type? I need to know these things, Tinypaw, so I can make it a matching outfit, okay? And did you say you came here to put stop a bear? That's amazing. How are you gonna do that??? Do you need help? Is that like your job? Oh my god where do you work??"
She was rambling and firing off questions like rapidfrie, and normally she would probably be very cautious of this. Cherry was definitely a chatty one, she knew it very well, but even on her chattiest days she still always made sure to leave room for other people to actually answer her, and weigh in on topics, or start their own lines of questioning. But she was just so... so... captivated by this little mouse, holy shit. She couldn't stop herself.
Tinypaw climbed onto Cherry's hand with the ease of a small rodent and braced himself as she raised back up to normal height. Her normal height, of course. Even when he was 'fully sized' in the feywilds Tinypaw was only ever about two feet tall. She started rotating around and he stumbled at the change in motion which he hadn't been expecting but the good thing about being small was there wasn't far to stumble and he caught himself quickly enough. He was sprightly, as could be expected.
He was looking out for a bird, even if Cherry's attention was on him, though he was still listening as she rambled off a variety of questions rapid-fire. Eventually she finished speaking and he chuckled again, glancing her way for a moment before turning back to his birdwatching while listing off answers. "Yes, a specially-made saddle. It fits most small birds, anything from sparrows to chickadees to robins, and even some bigger birds like bluejays. I didn't know you could make outfits for birds. I just pick the first suitable bird I find when I get here so it changes, sorry. I was sent here to stop the bear and send it back to hibernation. I could probably use help, but I hope it wouldn't put you in danger to do so - bears out of hibernation can get a little cranky. I am an animal-talent fairy so it is part of my job to deal with errant bears. I work mostly here in the mortal realm but I live in the feywilds. Um... I think that about covers it?" He flashed a little mousy smile her way. Yes, he was at least mostly sure he answered all of her questions.
Now to find a bird. It was hard sometimes in the winter months because so many birds migrated - in fact he helped birds migrate at part of his job so he definitely knew how many dashed out of here when it got cold - so he kept an eye out for any birds that didn't migrate. Bluejays, some nuthatches, various types of sparrow... he should be ok, but perhaps all the talking was scaring them away. He could call them though, so if they didn't spot one soon he could whistle a little tune and draw some out and then have his pick. He preferred one that wasn't timid though, so one that wasn't hiding anyway would be the best option.

Oh my god!?!?
Holy crackers he was a fairy! A wingless, mouse-looking fairy! Somehow that actually made him even more adorable than he already was. To be honest, Cherry hadn't even stopped to consider the fact that a bear was, well, a bear, and that a cranky one of out hibernation could be dangerous, because honestly the fact that Thinypaw was here, and he was a mouse fairy, and his name was Tinypaw, was way more important than that.
"The feywild... wow, do you know I am seventy years old and I have just never been? And like, I have it on good authority that it's a totally real place. I know there are a lot of naysayers who think that fairies just make it up, but hey, some mortals are just ignorant, you know? I'd love to go there some day, wow..."
At some point she had stopped turning about, standing still while Tinypaw perked his adorable little ears and scouted for a bird. Sadly, it didn't seem like there were any nearby. Cherry bit the inside of her cheek thoughtfully. "So is the bird, like, especially necessary? Or do you just need to be able to get around without being trampled? Because, you know. I'd be happy to volunteer my services if you can't find one."
She gave the little guy a wink as soon as he returned his attention to her.
