She laughed at his response, forgetting that the stupid man was just a few decks above them, and that he'd likely be prying her for a conversation before the trip was over. "Funny and handsome. I think I'd pay to watch someone punch him in the face." Tehodis smiled, her tears clearing to make way for a smile she hadn't worn in weeks. She wished she knew more people like Kikuriku. She wished that someone like Kikuriku could be around more often, even. She hadn't laughed in too long a time. She'd had no one to laugh with... But as the boat lurched through cold water, she remembered exactly where the stupid man was, and her face fell a bit.
"Unfortunately he's not the kind of man you can really punch and get away with it. And... Well, he's not particularly far away, either," She pointed up, her face making a small grimace as she imagined where Woodrow must be lounging now, "How much do you know about the SSPB, Kiku?"

Vincent felt an immediate sense of smug satisfaction when Lord Woodrow sided with him. It was nice to know that whatever intrigue Thomas held over him was not so great as to disregard Vincent's opinions. And it was nicer, of course, to simply see Tom not get his way. And yet, even after ascenting to accept Lord Woodrow's verdict, Thomas still felt the need to throw out a cajoling remark, as though trying to bait Woodrow into reconsidering.
God this man was insufferable.
"Are you honestly attempting to offer bait in a form commonly employed by schoolyard children, Dunn?" Vincent asked, turning his visual attention back onto Thomas for the first time since he arrived at the table, a condescending glare in his eyes. "That's rather unbecoming of a distinguished doctor, wouldn't you say?"
Woodrow was not particularly unaware of Vincent's dislike for Tom by any means, but regardless, Vincent generally tried to keep it under reigns while in his lord's presence simply as a matter of professionalism. But even so, he couldn't help but let a bit of extra venom drip into that last statement.

Kiku had heard about the SSPB, though he knew almost nothing about it. It had something to do with policing pirates, but piracy wasn’t Kiku’s game. He was all about treasure hunting and plundering booty, but her preferred to do it on dry land. Contrary to his current position, he didn’t care much for boats – too cramped and wishy-washy, and there was always someone onboard puking their guts out. It was all just a gross affair. He did, however, love looking out into the sea, watching as the waves flowed and crashed together. It was all very beautiful, so maybe there was more to piracy than Kiku first thought.
Kiku looked up when Tehodis pointed – whoever it was that harmed her was nearby. So near, in fact, that Kiku could be in danger of overreacting and going to confront him in the very near future. The smile she had had on her face faded, and Kiku could tell that she was thinking of the man who had hurt her. Seeing the pain on her face brought hateful thoughts to Kiku’s mind.
“To be honest with you, I don’t know much about them at all. Is that whose ship this is? Is that what you are? Could you be the swashbucklin’ captain of this here vessel?” Kiku didn’t want to sound accusatory, though deep down he wondered if he should be worried about his safety. He was starting to trust Tehodis, but the thought that this might be a trap entered Kiku’s mind. Luckily, he had the ability to hide in the shadows, and shapeshift into somebody else should the need arise. That thought eased his concerns, though he refused to let his guard down. Whoever hurt Tehodis might want to hurt Kiku too – he was just as pretty and wonderful as she was.

"Me?" She laughed again, thinking it was a joke, but realized soon that Kiku was actually - somewhat - serious. She shook her head then, her laugh tapering off, "Not even close. A junior investigator. I've got enough authority to arrest people, and well, that's about it." She wondered if she even liked it anymore. Without an arm, she felt useless here. Should she move on? She wondered where Kiku was planning on going next.
"I asked because of Lord Woodrow. Lord of the feifdom of Eersaeb, and the leader of the SSPB. Basically one of the most powerful men in the world," And stupidest, and most awful, and the person that I would most wish bad things upon, "He's that stupid man. He's the one that did this to me."

Upstairs.
Upstairs was man who went by ‘Lord Woodrow’. An awful, douchey name if Kiku’d ever heard one, though he wasn’t sure if he was projecting his hatred onto the name. Maybe Woodrow wasn’t a terrible name. If you spell it backwards, it was Word-oow, and that was something.
Knowing that the man who had hurt Tehodis was just upstairs, and that he was supposedly one of the most powerful men in the world made Kiku anxious. He wondered if he knew Elias Harel - if the two of them were on the same level of scumminess.
Kiku decided to try and keep the conversation light, for Tehodis’ sake – he could see how upset and uncomfortable the thought of Woodrow made her.
“I see… A junior investigator! My, my, I did not know I was in the presence of such high honour. Please, please, allow me.” Kiku stood up off of the ground, and gave a deep bow, before laughing. “First, investigating for contraband and then you come across a dashing stowaway! Arrest me, maiden! I won’t put up a fight!” Kiku over exaggerated as he stuck his arms out to be handcuffed.
Hopefully she puts me in handcuffs, and we make use of all of this privacy. That bag over there looks very comfortable.

Tehodis laughed again, and she felt a few butterflies flit through her stomach as she realized this handsome, funny, kind man was likely flirting just a tad. She immediately told herself that she was quite wrong, that the only person who would want her was the one she wanted least in the world... But that didn't mean she couldn't pretend for a little while.
She stood - or at least worked on it, struggling to get up quite as easily as Kiku had. She wanted to pretend as easily as he did, to joke as easily as he did, but she wasn't used to it. So instead she was as clumsy in jest as she was in movement. She managed to get up with a bit of struggle - and perhaps a bit of aid from Kiku - and then reached for her handcuffs as she played along, "For crimes against this extremely fanciful luggage, and my ribs - which are far too sore from laughing now - you, Kikuriku, are under arrest--" Ah, the handcuffs weren't there. Of course, they were also in her room. She really hadn't brought a darn thing with her, had she? It was very lucky indeed that the mystery she found below wasn't something more threatening.
But now she had nothing to continue this little game with. She had to think of something, she didn't want to go back to the dull events of the rest of the ship. "Well..." She started, her face forming a slight frown, "I suppose I could forgive your indiscretion this once... But I'll require something in return, should you be amenable to such a thing."

Tehodis played along with Kiku’s antics, which made things much easier. He was looking forward to being in handcuffs before he realized that she didn’t have any. She didn’t make for much an authoritative figure, but she was definitely adorable. Despite her inability to fulfill his handcuff fantasy, she still kept Kiku’s interest by requiring something form Kiku. Impure thoughts danced in Kiku’s head, though he was certain that she didn’t mean what he was thinking – he didn’t think there were enough camels on board for that.
“Require something? Hmm,” Kiku returned his hand to his chin, something he wouldn’t be able to do if he were indeed handcuffed. “Well, I guess I have to. You are the one in charge here.” Kiku enjoyed this little game.

When he agreed, she realized she hadn't thought of anything yet. She mirrored his expression, putting her hand to her chin and thinking. There were a lot of things she wanted him to do, honestly. She wanted him to stay far away from Woodrow, for one... Though she also kind of wanted him to punch Woodrow in the face - not as much as she wanted him to still be breathing afterwards though. She also wanted to spend the rest of the trip with him, learning more about his lost mother, and about what else he had done with his life to make him such an interesting person. And she also sort of wanted... Well, her strangest request, was that she wanted to dance with him. She hadn't done much dancing in her life, but it was something she could see herself doing with Kikuriku. It was such an odd request, that she felt too embarrassed to ask it.
The game changed then, her suddenly becoming a bit too sheepish to be playful. She bit her lip as she met his eyes once more, and managed a nervous laugh, "I didn't think that far ahead!" She brushed the loose tendrils of hair from her ponytail back (another thing difficult to do with one hand was putting one's hair in a ponytail), and finally came up with something that she didn't feel too terribly self-conscious to ask him. She pulled her key ring from her pocket, and attempted to pull one of the two copies off -- again, something difficult to do with one hand. She offered it to him for aid as she made her 'demand', "That dinner you promised you'd share with me earlier. Let's double it. Lunch, and dinner. A more comfortable place to talk. ...Assuming you think you're sneaky enough to make it to my cabin, that's the key." She hoped he didn't feel roped into it, hoped that he didn't feel awkward. Hoped that he wasn't just being nice to the one-armed girl. Perhaps giving him the choice of using the key would be enough of an option. He could just ignore her if this was just him being nice to a pitiful thing such as her.

Tom quite enjoyed the way Vincent made every remark of his own about Vincent. Surely he didn't think Tom was so immature? He was a middle-aged man, both Markus and Vincent's seniors. Perhaps he'd need to remind him.
"My deepest apologies, Vincent," To Woodrow's ears the tone would be quite apologetic, to Vincent, it would be a jab of sarcasm. "I've gotten over it, actually. My remark was aimed to move the conversation forward, most call it a segue. Perhaps it's not as common with your generation, but I was only hoping to move on to a new conversation. No need to get so ruffled about one topic. I'm merely interested in what has made a man that I greatly admired for his innovation and risk-taking so... Passive. It's not an insult, mind you. I hope you don't find it as such, Mark. I'm merely... Curious. Something must have happened. And I like to think we've become quite excellent friends. I'm quite happy to hear about whatever might be bothering you." Tom clinked his glass of off Woodrow's solidifying the connection they shared that Vincent couldn't. Vincent who didn't drink, Vincent who didn't seem to smile, Vincent who was silent and serious. Not charming and conversational.

Kikuriku had to keep from laughing when Tehodis presented a key. A key? For me, master thief Kikuriku Gouken? Please, I could break into the archives of Storisina with three toothpicks, a blanket, a shoelace and the pubic hair of a Queen – I can get into Tehodis’ room.
He smiled at Tehodis coyly as he placed his hand over hers, declining the key. He would take no shortcuts in this challenge that she proposed.
“I can sneak into the luggage cabin of an SSPB flagship; I can certainly get into your room. I would have gone there first had I known you were going to be there. So let’s make this interesting; you close your eyes and count to five out loud. At five, open them, and then make your way back to your room. When you arrive, close your eyes again and count, out loud, to five. When you open your eyes, you will have a big surprise.”
Kiku bopped her on her nose with his forefinger, and smiled at her as she closed her eyes.
He immediately looked down to her shadow, and frowned. Whatever race she was, she did not produce a very strong shadow, so it would be very difficult and uncomfortable to hide in such a fickle place. Even with the benefit of the dim light, Kiku was not confident that he wouldn’t be hurt if the shadow couldn’t hold. If an Ajatar is hiding in a shadow, and that shadow is erased for whatever reason before he or she leaves the shadow, then the Ajatar is severely maimed. Or worse, killed. Shadow walking wasn’t as much of a game as Kikuriku made it out to be - he could end up with less limbs than Tehodis!
Luckily for him, albeit unfortunately, Tehodis was wearing clothes that produced a solid shadow. Though it would be a tight fit, Kiku could safely travel in the shadow of her clothes while she walked to her room – he just hoped that she wouldn’t be interrupted along the way.
By the time Tehodis got to 'three', Kiku was out of sight; nice and snug inside her clothes... shadow.
