And so Alice joined the Tea Party
God, even the way she talked was cool! An inconvenient location manages to be convenient on the hundredth go around... that was such a neat thing to say. She was so mysterious and composed, clearly quite powerful, and charming to boot. She had her butterflies set Cherry down at the table, and the girl couldn't help the huge grin on her face. She hoped this woman didn't think she was being a giddy fool.
As for her question, well... Cherry was already quite late. At this point, even if she showed up now, she wasn't really certain that the Supreme would still want to see her. In her experience with most important types, especially royals, tardiness tended to not really be appreciated. She should have answered this woman that she really couldn't afford to be any later than she already was if she had any hope of salvaging this deal at all, but...
But somehow she just couldn't bring herself to want to leave just yet. The Supreme, sure, he could use all kinds of magic, and was all-powerful, yadda yadda yadda. But Cherry had never been so captivated in wonder by a magic-user as she was by this lady right now. There was just something in her... her presence. Her aura, her attitude. She exuded something that others lacked, and it made Cherry want to stick around.
She ignored the slight pang of hunger that was brought on at the thought, though. She hadn't had a meal in a while, and this woman was actually just radiating magical energy. That may have also been a reason for why Cherry felt so compelled to stay. But of course, it's not like Cherry would ever siphon off someone's magic without asking! It was kind of like a fresh-baked pie. Even if you knew you weren't allowed to have a piece, you could still stick around and enjoy the smell, right?
"I really am pretty late," she replied after another sip of tea. "Buuut... I suppose not too late, just yet. I could probably spare a bit more time. I'm sure The Supreme would understand that I was lost, right?"
She delicately placed her cup down on the small dish that was before her, smiling wider as she leaned forward with hands on knees. "I'm Cherry, by the way. And you are...?"

Y
es, the Supreme would likely understand that this girl was lost, as he understood many things. Would he be accepting of such a reason? Vanya was no diviner, so she could but guess: and the guess would be no. She held a sneaking suspicion that her guest felt similarly, yet remained. It gave Vanya a smile to realize that she still had the charm she was so widely known for in her youth, albeit she had let it go unpractised. The girl could have said 'Oh, no no, I'm far too late! Too, too late, and the Supreme will not abide my wasting time with tea! No matter how impressive the tea brewer's magic may be!', and Vanya would have conjured the girl off and away to the Supreme's teleportation chamber and been done with it.
Instead, she introduced herself. Cherry. Vanya tried to imagine the girl that was Cherry. She saw warm, tanned skin washed with freckles, and a red mop of hair on her head. A cherry on top. She would wear blues and greens, and she'd likely be over-bundled for the weather. It was the look of someone who didn't spend much time in the cold snow of Rielcia in winter. But then she imagined someone different, and the iterations continued and continued, endless in their variety. She imagined Cherry as many young women she had met before losing her sight, mixing and matching their features until they felt right. Her imaginings were hardly ever correct, but she found it much easier to speak with an imagined face than solely a voice.
"And you are...?"
"Me?" Vanya's lip quirked into a smirk, and she stood with purpose, her hands conjuring a short burst of wind to blow her furred cloak out dramatically. As it did, her butterflies flew to her, gathering behind her in the form of a rippling pink back-drop. "I am the divine, stupendous, unmimicable--" She spun then, her form glowing with a muted pink light, and images burst from the light as she did: Her fox, her vulture, her verdant stag, one after the other. They danced around Cherry, spinning around her without physical form as Vanya spun and listed the adjectives. Finally she said her name, and it seemed to boom over the trees, as if it came from anywhere, and everywhere, but for her own self: "Vanya Konstantin!"
All at once she stopped her spinning, the light faded, the familiars dissipated, and she raised an arm to either side in an exaggerated bow. After a moment, her face perked up, eyes glinting despite not seeing, and her smile broke only for her words of pride, "Fortuna's only Master of Conjuration. Don't allow Ashelon Garrus to make you the fool."

SHIIIIIIIIII-
It was official, this was absolutely the coolest person Cherry had ever met, and that really said something considering she'd met quite the number of people in her days. The Great Vanya's introduction had probably been the most theatrical and showy introduction she'd ever seen, as well, and yet the woman clearly owned her power so confidently that you couldn't even call it ridiculous. Despite knowing it might make her look like a fool, Cherry found herself applauding once the introduction was done, smiling wide.
"That was incredible!" she said excitedly, staring in awe at the last of the butterflies which swarmed about before vanishing, and rocking giddily in her seat. "A master of conjuration? Wow. I can't say I've ever met a master before! I mean, of any magical school, actually! Though I guess I would have if I'd actually seen The Supreme today, but, well, you know. Not that I find myself regretting that very much at the moment!"

herry's applause caused Vanya to smile, and ensured her that not only did she still have her charm, but she still had her showmanship as well. Her guest's appreciation certainly left nothing for Vanya to want from her, except perhaps to simply learn precisely who she was. No one intended to meet with the Supreme was a no one.
She righted herself from the bow and returned to her seat in grand fashion before permitting her butterflies to bring her abandoned teacup to her lips. This was less of the show it seemed to be, and more a simple requirement as she did not know where the saucer was in relation to her after all of that. She thought briefly about how she wished she had learned some divination before she had lost her sight, but then decided that pressing herself in too many directions might have made her less masterful, so poppycock to that.
Cherry continued to regale Vanya with adulation and the conjurer accepted it with grace, nodding along as Cherry granted Vanya the win against the Supreme. Take that, Mordecai, She thought, though why he needed to 'take anything' was actually beyond her, as she had no beef with him, and had never desired to be Supreme herself. Perhaps she just adored the sense of superiority the title gave her.
"Well, Miss Cherry," Vanya smiled, "Whether your praise is born of integrity or manipulation, you'll find that you are quite welcome to continue espousing it in my little clearing." She took her cup from the butterflies, placing it down purposefully to ensure she knew where it was. Two inches from the edge, which was at three eighths her arm extension. Perfect.
"Now tell me, Miss Cherry: To what purpose has Mordecai requested your designs? Surely to bring you such a distance it must either be you in high demand, or he for a well-dressed public appearance."

This Could Be Serendipity!
Cherry had to giggle to herself at the response; basically it didn't matter if Cherry was being sincere or not with the flattery, Vanya would still welcome more of it. Cherry supposed she could relate on that front. Praise was nice to here, and if someone was gonna lob it at you without meaning it, well. Who cares? They were still praising you, so who was the real winner there?
"Hm... well, maybe it's a bit of both?" the Lamini woman replied then to Vanya's question, after a moment of thought. "There's supposed to be some big fancy event soon that Morde- ahem, The Supreme, is going to be attending." This Master Conjurer seemed to have no issue referring to the Supreme by name, but Cherry had been to a few foreign countries before, and had learned that in general a lot of people didn't like it when outsiders were so informal about their leaders. Besides! Cherry was here on business, and what if one of his aids managed to find her just in time to hear her speak in such a way? "To be honest, I've no idea what the event is. I'll bet they probably told me, but honestly the royal missive droned on and on and on for so long that I kind of tuned some of it out."
But apparently it was perfectly fine to potentially be overheard saying that. Cherry continued.
"So whatever this event is, The Supreme decided he and his family needed to be dressed to the nines, so they summoned a tailor! And that tailor just so happened to be me. And not to brag or anything, but I'd say I'm in reasonably high demand. Probably not at the top of the ladder or anything yet, but hey, gotta keep working at it!" At this, she slumped in her seat a bit, her tone dropping. "Actually, this job might have been that push I needed to do just that. Buuuut honestly I'm so late at this point that I kind of doubt he'd even bother to see me. Like I probably gave him some kind of royal insult or something, you know?"
The slightly sad moment passed seemingly as quickly as it came, and she perked right back up in her seat to take another sip at her tea. "But everything happens for a reason! And instead I met you!"

A
special event, was that it? There was certainly no annual event that would take place in The Winter Storm that she knew of, not in Rielcia. Sure, in her bloodhome this was the most honoured time of the year, but that meant nothing to her chosen home, nothing to the Supreme, and it meant nothing to her. What could that possibly leave? Did Cowell finally have a child, and it was a ceremony for betrothal? Did Cowell finally give up on his hunt for his lady love, and it was a wedding between the Imperator and one of the Supreme's children? Vanya would love to guess which one, and weddings were certainly a big deal in Eleusia, so it was as likely a hypothesis as any. What else could be so important that they wouldn't reschedule it for any other (far less miserable) time of the year?
Well now Vanya was curious, and she once again wanted the powers of Divination (though not enough that she would trade any of her current powers). The new question became: Was she curious enough to leave her little tower in her little clearing? Though she did not like to leave even for supplies (lost hikers were a better source for errands), she had to admit that her curiosity was sorely tempting her. The Supreme's castle was secure, she supposed. Safe. They knew her there, so she would likely be treated with some kind of reverence (or rather, she ought to be) - particularly if she returned to them their little, late fashionista. It was a mere bonus that Cherry's name could be cleared by Vanya's presence.
"Well then," Vanya smiled, clapping her hands together purposefully. When she did, the clearing 'popped' around them, and the sudden warmth could have been overwhelming if she hadn't expected it. The entire setup, the tea, the cushions, and sweetly kind (likely adorable) little Cherry, were now set within the open foyer of her tower. She gave Cherry a moment to be impressed - she ought to be impressed - and then stood to find her scrolls. "You continue to be quite lucky, sweet Cherry. If there's a reason to be late, that reason is Vanya Konstantin, and if there's someone who could chatter you through the Supreme's guards - that someone is Vanya Konstantin."
Finding the scroll in question through feel alone, Vanya unravelled it, laying it upon the table. It was covered in detailed words and symbols written in varying shades of ink, and although it looked chaotic, a focal point was clear enough, and everything else looked 'just right' when it was stared at. Then, Vanya made her offer: "For the cost of being your guest within the Supreme's hold, I shall waive my usual fee. What do you say, dear lamb?"

Holy Poop Rockets!!
When Vanya transported herself, Cherry, and the entire tea setup into her tower, it definitely took a few seconds for Cherry's brain to catch up with it all. She'd been teleported plenty of times before - it more or less came with her territory, considering how in-demand her work could be - but the personal conjurer she had on retainer was never able to do things so... instantly, the way Vanya had. There was usually a door, or a puff of smoke involved, or one time even a curtain she had to pull aside. This time, it was just... it was a blink. One second they were outside, the next they weren't. In fact it had all been so sudden (and lacking the minor disorientation that usually came with teleporting) that Cherry wondered for a moment if it had been another illusion at work.
But then Vanya kept speaking, and was busying herself looking for things along her shelf, and holy crap she really just teleported us in less than a second. Cherry was so astounded that she wanted to exclaim immediately, but she held it in when Vanya proceeded to pull out a scroll, talking on Cherry's situation and... and offering what now??
Cherry clapped her hands to her mouth and stood immediately. "Omigosh are you serious! You can bring me there and talk me out of trouble?? That would be such a life-saver, of course I'd love for you to be my guest! Are you sure you don't want to charge anything? I can pay you! Hell I'll even make you any clothing you could want, seriously, it's no trouble at all!"
Vanya seemed to be content just to get into the palace with Cherry, like she needed some particular reason, and if she was on a first-name basis with The Supreme, Cherry suspected it was one of those relationships where they respected each other but couldn't just drop in unannounced for no reason. There was no concern whatsoever that Vanya had untoward motives; after all, if she could teleport the way she just demonstrated, and could also get Cherry inside on request, it stood to reason that she could also get herself into the palace any time she wanted. Therefore, this clearly wasn't one of those situations where some nefarious ne'er-do-well needed to use Cherry to achieve bad things, because Cherry wasn't really needed. Vanya probably just needed a decent excuse to go.
At any rate, she was offering way too much for free as far as Cherry was concerned, and she'd have been delighted to make something for her in exchange. After all, the woman was gorgeous! There were literally millions of things Cherry could design that'd look amazing on her.
"Oh!" she suddenly exclaimed as her eyes started roving the scroll Vanya had laid out, the curious designs reminding her of her earlier amazement. "And by the way? You are so so so amazing, like wow, I can't believe you teleported us without me even feeling it! I've never met another conjurer who could do that."

V
anya was thankful that Cherry was both: Not well-versed in expert-level conjuration, as it was nice to be lauded as a genius; and somewhat-versed in conjuration as a general topic, as it was not so nice to wait for someone to catch up to you. Instead, as she finished speaking and unravelling the scroll Cherry had enjoyed, and finished her little "mind blown" moment, and was ready to start in on the next action.
And by action, of course she meant more lauding from Cherry. She was so generous, kind, etcetera and etcetera, to which Vanya just nodded sagely. Yes, she was rather kind, wasn't she? But really, she didn't get out much, she hadn't even gone into her own little pocket dimension since the last time Solveig had visited. Which meant she was going stir crazy, which meant: Cherry was doing her a greater favour than she might have known. First, by visiting and brightening up her little tea party; and second, by giving her a reason to go and visit the Supreme in a way that made her seem as aloof and distant as she often liked to pretend she was.
Cherry offered to make an outfit for her in return for all of this, and she smiled in place of an answer. She didn't know if Cherry had any quality style quite yet. She assumed she must, if she was being shipped in from overseas for Mordecai - but at the same time, though she had never seen his style, she was certain the Supreme was lacking in that department. For now, she would let the offer pass, perhaps get someone else's trusted opinion on whether Cherry's style would mesh with Vanya's own. After all, Vanya was impeccably well-dressed, at least by 5119 standards.
"As I told you, dear, there is not a conjurer in the world quite as skilled as I, I would never fib about such a thing. Now..." She offered Cherry her hands with their warm and blackened nails, curious to feel what Cherry's hands would feel like. Vanya's pink palms were facing up, the backs of them perfectly parallel to two circular points on the scroll, "Take my hands, and whatever you do, don't let go until I say. We wouldn't want to see you lost in the aether!"

And away we go!
Cherry didn't need any second telling. With an excited grin she reached out to take the hands that Vanya had offered, placing her palms over the other woman's and wrapping her fingers gently around. Vanya's hands felt impeccably soft, and Cherry figured that that made sense; if you could conjure as well as Vanya could, you probably didn't have much reason for getting your hands dirty too often.
"Ready when you are!" she informed. She wondered if this time she'd feel the teleportation. If Vanya had to pull out a special scroll to accomplish this one, surely it had to be a less simple matter than simply being blinked into her tower, right? Either way, Cherry was excited to see what would come.

I
n the same exact blink that Cherry had confirmed her readiness, the two were nowhere. Well, not nowhere, exactly. Just, elsewhere, a place that lesser conjurers would try to avoid spending their precious seconds in. Those conjurers utilized a door as a grounding point for their teleportation, but Vanya was not such a simpleton. She was a Master, and a Master needed nothing to ground her. Time slowed for Vanya, though Cherry (unless of course, she was also quite in tune with Nyxca's pathways) would likely feel as though only a single breath had passed by when they arrived.
As Vanya whispered the focusing incantations that were as familiar as her own name, magic became visible in her mind's eye. Golden roads splayed out before her, begging to be chosen, offering grand reward should she heed their call. A young conjurer might be fooled, might follow one of the most beautiful paths, but Vanya knew better. They were temptations to be resisted, as the mind needed to be focused on the path that had been chosen, particularly with a passenger. The path Vanya focused on was the one written out on her scroll, which had been coded specifically for the route through the path to the Supreme's palace. So long as she followed the lines drawn beneath her and Cherry's hands, they would face no problem - which was, in itself, no problem at all. Perhaps Vanya had not planesjumped in years, but she still knew how to walk between the places of the material as if she were walking from her bed to the dresser.
And so arrive they did, to the very centre of Mordecai Izer's throne room. Their arrival was without much sound or aplomb, the only evidence being the golden fog that dribbled off of the two's clothing and into nothingness - or the fact that where there had once been an empty space there were now two women of highly coloured complexion standing with joined hands.
"With all due respect, Mordecai, the missive from Gilles clearly states that an Aurcaeli soldier has the ear of the Atton Chief. They have yet to hear our offer, and if our intelligence is correct... My Supreme I believe that we should initiate the--" Kuizhinier's plea was halted midspeech by the casually raised hand of Supreme Mordecai, who's eyes narrowed at the two women who had appeared over the councilman's shoulder.
Turning swiftly, Kuizhinier seemed to prepare a spell, but with a careless wave of his hand Mordecai stopped it - Abjuration. It was quite true that he was immensely powerful, and his dispelling of a Master Transmuter's spell with such little effort would have impressed most. Heck, it might have impressed Vanya if she could see it. Something that would not have impressed Vanya, however, was the way Mordecai slouched in his throne as if he were ready to fall asleep in the thing.
"Vanya Konstantin, as I live and breathe," Mordecai's eyes wandered over the two women lavishly, and Kuizhinier lowered his guard as he heard the name. He was evidently familiar with the Conjurer, and did not think her as much a threat as her uninvited presence would have presumed. Mordecai's eyes stopped their wandering and laid upon Cherry, and any who watched him could see as his eyes flashed a bright white for a moment - Divination. "And it seems you have located my missing tailor. I would call it kind if I did not know you."
"But Mordecai, darling, you hardly know me at all," Vanya smirked back, earning a smug smile from Mordecai before she pressed a hand against Cherry's back to encourage the lamini forward.
