The Fortuna Method At first glance, this talk of storylines or timelines might seem strange or overly complex... But in reality, it's quite simple! Please find the explanations below for how, and why, we do things this way, and how you can get involved with ease! Storylines Storylines are a key aspect of how Fortuna will run! When you make your character, their motivation will turn into a Storyline. This will be the plot that you are the main character of, the driving force. Every character will have their own storyline - and you can join other people's storylines, make new storylines, or play in storylines posted by the staff! Each storyline is built up from a few aspects: Logline / GeneralTake a look at the current storylines here, make your own, or see what you might want to be a part of! Timelines Because this roleplaying game takes place in an expansive world, it can sometimes seem difficult to keep semi-realistic times in mind. How did I go from the north-western country of Aissic all the way to the southern deserts of Muerte in five minutes?! Well, the segments of time lead to realistic, intriguing use of time and planning in the game! At the top of the sidebar in the "INFO" section, you'll see the current active time-frame. This doesn't really coordinate with real-time, as the months of Fortuna have fifteen days and may act quite differently than the months we are familiar with. What it does do, is allow you to flesh our your character's month (fifteen days) with a variety of threads that all fit within that month's timeline. And that brings us to Time Stamps and Trackers. Time stamping gives you and other roleplayers that are involved in the game a clear picture of when events are taking place. When you create a new thread, under the option to name your thread, is the box where you can enter in the date and location. So, stamp your threads with a date and time just that simply, and it'll appear in the thread listing! If you are open to someone else putting in a time stamp, you can state that as well. It's quite simple, but just in case it's not as clear as I think it is, here's a quick example. Timestamp: 2nd of the All-Seeing Eye, 5152 - Early Morning - A Busy Street Now the only question remaining is how to keep things simpler, so you don't have to scroll through all of your roleplays looking for what times you still have available. The answer? Trackers! These are simple threads where you include what times you have used up, and what times you have available, and you can also plan our your future times and plots. If you have multiple characters you can choose to have them all in the same thread, or in separate threads. Click here for trackers! Now what if you have a roleplay going on, and then the active timeframe changes? Do you lose that roleplay? Not at all. Any roleplay that has started, ought to end, and you have as much time as you need to complete it... But we know exactly when it happened, and so the happenings in that thread won't be affected by new threads! You have as much time as you want to finish a roleplay, no questions asked. And what about creating new threads that occur in an old time frame? This is also accepted, just make sure it sticks with the canon of the current threads! It can be fun to go back and time and flesh out details. The only thing you can't do is make threads that exist in a future timeframe that has yet to occur. We'll get there, I promise! | ||
