The air outside was cool and crisp as the sun began to dip and the moon began to make an appearance, just as it was beginning to get hard to see Karn spotted what appeared to be a tavern. From the outside it looks delightful, well maintained and cheerful. Clay bricks and marble pillars make up most of the building's outer structure. It's tough to see through the darkened windows, but the laughter from within can be felt outside.
Pushing open a heavy oak door Karn was quickly engulfed by the powerful scent of tobacco and cheap alcohol that hung heavy in the air, even someone without his strong senses would be overwhelmed by the barrage. But his tired bones and weary muscles needed a rest and this was the first inn/tavern he had seen for hours so he would persevere. As he enters the tavern through the decorated wooden door, Karns welcomed by clapping hands and joyful music. The bartender is extremely busy, but still manages to welcome him in with a wave. The locals here seemed to mind their own business and went about drinking despite the massive bearman who just stumbled through the door, a pleasant surprise, an altercation was the last thing on Karn's mind.
It's as alluring inside as it is on the outside. Tree logs support the upper floor and the torches attached to them. The walls are packed with all sorts of travel memorabilia, most likely all collected by the owner. The tavern itself is packed. Groups belonging to some kind of organization, whether sport, music or other seem to be the primary clientele here.Several long tables are occupied by separate groups of people, all enjoying themselves, but they keep to themselves. The other, smaller tables are also occupied by people who are clearly having a good time. Even most of the stools at the bar are occupied, though nobody seems to mind more company.
Finding a open seat at the bar Karn finally rests and realizes just how tired his legs are from the long trek, after burying his friend he could no longer stay at the small cottage deep in the woods. Signaling the bartender for a drink, a small child pops up from behind the bar to hand him his mead before disappearing out of view once again. "Never to young to start making money" He chuckled to himself while slowly sipping his beverage and getting lost in thought. The locals seemed to be celebrating something but several men in the corner seemed quite upset, worth keeping an eye on Karn noted as he felt his stomach grumble and began rummaging through his bag for spare gold pieces.
Quietly resting in the corner of a packed bar sat our hero, covered in a rough looking light patched together cloak that concealed his ornate brown robe with green swirling trim. More so concealing the dual daggers that clung to his waist. His crossbow hung heavily on his back but there was no hope for concealing the old girl.
Elias sat among new found friends. (buying a round always seemed to be followed by an invitation for some merriment) Despite not being in the mood to celebrate the elf knew it helped to blend in when in lands you don't know. Clinking glasses with the large fellow next to him before tilting his empty cup high appearing as if he just took a large gulp (another tactical move) he saw the door open and a rather large Ursine walked in. While not uncommon, seeing beastfolks was still worth making a mental note of, if not simply for their large stature. But this one seemed well mannered enough as it sat and went about it's business.
The bloke who seemed to be the leader of this drunken party stood at the head of the table, using it to hold himself up, started to make some slurred toast about a job well done. While he had only been half paying attention Elias was now fully focused when the man replayed the tale of how him and his group had just come back from a job slaying a problematic beast for a local noble. Followed by a humble brag of how they were paid handsomely with jewels and a odd dagger.
Tales of action always sent the elf into a daydream of when he will have his own tales.....

The Captain of the Defiled Grail pushed open the doors to a tavern. It had been a while since he was last able to make it ashore. When he was in a pirate, or rather now, lawless settlements he would be quite at home and spend time in the nearest tavern. Just as he was planning now. Though he was in a kingdom and could potentially be turned in for a nice profit, he was not afraid. He made sure to go alone so as to not attract attention for a roving band of pirates moving inland. As soon as he was inside he went straight to the bar and turned to survey the rest of the room. The people were far too loud, and they were missing something.
Merlyn leaned back and turned to the bartender, flagging him down for a single drink. When the flagon was set before him he picked it up and drank half of it before setting it back down. Then he picked up whatever scraps of food he could find and dropped them into the mug. And to finish off his masterpiece, he spat into it. With a smile on his face he turned to a barmaid that was walking by with a tray full of ale. While placing a gold coin on the tray he handed her the flagon.
“Could you give this to that guy at the table, also could you say it was from the bear?” He asked, using his regular charm to easily get the bar maid do his bidding. “That should do it,” he said to himself as he turned to the bartender, asking for another ale before he witnessed the fruits of his work. ______________ Tags: @karn , @rotpar Notes: Sorry for the delay. Also, this should have been expected. Bar Brawl.
With a sugar dipped smile the barmaid quickly made her way to the table full of drunken hooligans and Elias. Dropping off another pitcher of mead and making sure a special drink was placed in front of the elf, stating it was from the furry gentlemen at the bar.
Strange, normally a friend makes sure to see you get the drink but the bear seemed deeply engrossed in the meal he was picking apart. Not one to overthink a free drink Elias went to grab it but his large drunken tablemate quickly snatched it up and with a smile poured the whole thing down his gullet.
Slamming the drink down hard, a look of anger and disgust rushed over his face, bending down he spit up chunks of who knows what onto the ground with growls of disgust. "Aye fucker what's the deal!" he squealed while throwing the empty mug at the back of Karn's head. Clearly not one for thinking Elias mentally noted. Before he had a chance to intervene the whole crew was now up and approaching the bar with looks of maliciousness.
While bar brawls were often a source for a good story the elf began to wonder just how capable of fisticuffs his newfound friends were. It was 1 on 5 though so Elias liked his odds and made his way to the commotion, trying his hardest to appear tough and menacing. A hand silently slipped inside his robe wrapping around a dagger just to be safe.

Enjoying the cheerful chatter of the patrons and the warmth in his belly from a bowl of thick beef stew Karn smiled cheerfully while chit chatting to an orc sitting next to his left. His legs felt strong again despite the short rest and uncomfortable stool. A good mood and a delicious meal made everything alright though.
**THUD** A metal cup bounced off Karns head, most of the impact absorbed by his thick fur, sadly leaving the back of his head sticky with ale though. A deep sigh escaped Karns lip, putting his massive paws on the bar he pushed himself to his feet with a quickness, sending the stool crashing noisily to the ground. Despite his appearance some drunk fool always thought it was fun to poke the bear.
Turning around Karn was greeted by several tough looking individuals all looking ready for a brawl. Putting his large paws up in front of himself Karn said in a calm voice "I don't know what the problem is but surely this can be handled like civilized folks." Confrontation was never his way though if the men continued to push they would regret it. A burly man in leather armor stepped to the front of the unruly mob and slurred something along the lines of bears being savages. "A common mist...." Karn started before a violent left hook connected with his jaw. Stars floated in front of his eyes for a brief second before rage began to grow in the pit of his stomach. Breathing deeply through his nose and out his mouth Karn tried to calm down but was shoved back against the bar by the leader.
With a low growl Karn sent a powerful kick straight into the chest of the fool, toppling him over backwards, he took the man out behind him, both crashing hard into a table of strangers. Both men at the table shared a look of fuck it and decided to get in on the fun. Dumping their drinks on the trouble makers who sat at there feet. The bartender was yelling to take it outside but no one was listening at this point, adrenaline was pumping and folks were looking on in excitement.
Seeing their leader quickly dispatched did little to shy the others away from violence as two rushed at Karn attempting to grab his arms and pin him to the bar. With a savage howl he brought his arms together violently, slamming the men into each other. Their skulls making a sickening thud as they collided hard before slumping to the ground.
All the violence sparked something in the bar for now even those who weren't in the initial brush up were now pushing and shoving, the scene quickly escalating. Staring at the elf who so far sat back and just watched Karn snarled waiting for what was next.

The sudden howl from an angry drunk was more than enough to bring a smile to Merlyn’s face as he joyfully drank more ale. Just wait a bit longer for an impression to be made, and then I can start the betting, he thought as he started nodding his head around to a shanty’s tune. However, when he was shoved to the side off his stool and his ale fell to the ground, he turned back with an even wider grin. The fight was going to be a good one.
Merlyn reached over the bar while the tender was trying to stop the fighting that was taking place. The Captain found a good bottle of rum and popped the top off before he began to drink straight from the bottle. He only paused once before he downed the entire bottle. Once it was finished, he got a fiery look in his eyes as he looked for the nearest way to get in on the brawl that he started.
The first person that approached him was met with the rum bottle smashing them in the face. The bottle shattered leaving the pirate with a more lethal weapon that what he wanted. After all this was a bar fight, using weapons would be an unfair advantage. And gods forbid that someone actually get mortally injured. That would take all the fun out of these, as long as no one died there would be no government or guards to come intervene, after all, everyone likes a good fight, especially when it is with a bunch of drunks.
After one person was down Merlyn began pulling up his sleeves so he could formally join the entire brawl. The tattoos on both his arms were visible. The sea serpent around his right arm and the conscription mark on his left were out in the light. The Captain of the Defiled Grail was ready to jump into his evening’s entertainment. The first person he saw had their back turned to him. Merlyn stuck a foot behind the guy, grabbed his shoulder and threw him down to the ground. Surely he would be able to get back up, but for now this left his previous opponent open for Merlyn to take. The pirate loosed a punch on the opponent that made them look away. Merlyn took this opportunity to grab the man by his shirt and throw him in the general direction of the bear.
“Who’s next?” He grinned, looking for the next best target for him to take on. ________ Tags: @karn , @rotpar Notes: Here we go.
Chaos consumed the once peaceful tavern. All it took was one spark to ignite this keg of gunpowder. The bear man quickly and violently disposed of the initial instigators but now everyone was partaking in the bloody melee. One rather menacing looking individual brandished a broken bottle making a quick shank.
If weapons were going to be allowed then so be it! Scooping a chair up Elias swung it hard in the direction of some drunk who stumbled to close to the elf. Bouncing hard off the mans upper back he let out a yelp and fell to the ground, out cold. The bartender stood in the corner cursing the elf for his damage,a trembling child held in his arms. For a moment Elias felt his anger subside at the sad sight but returned with a force when he was clocked hard in the chest by some bloody nosed twit. The man quickly met the floor when Elias used the drunks momentum to flip him hard onto his back. The man landed with an "oof!" and a defeated look in his eyes that said he no longer wanted to fight.
Laying next to the victim was a leather sack with several jewels pouring out the top, one mans lost was Elias' good night! Scooping up the jewels and tucking them in his bag the elf made eye contact with the bottle wielding tattooed drunk. He seemed to be able to hold his own but he stood in the way of the door and a quick exit! Getting away seemed like the smart move at this point.
Rushing the man Elias hoped to catch him off guard with a quick lowered shoulder to the chest. This was no time to be technical, to many punches coming from all directions.
Things had gotten out of hand in a hurry and were just getting worse as time went on. Looking around at the bruised and bloodied bodies that decorated the once peaceful tavern Karn knew he must step in or the authorities were bound to show up. Being a large bear in armor always made you a prime suspect and a guaranteed night in handcuffs.
With several whispered words Karn cast a spell in a attempt to quiet the anger monkeys in everyone's head. Several dropped their make-shift weapons and looked around in a haze but the more violent folks still brawled, minds to clouded to hear the peaceful words.
A man with a small blade made his way towards the cowarding barkeep with a look of pure hate. Always a protector of the weak Karn rushed the man and tackled him to the ground before picking up his body and throwing it in the direction of the problematic elf who seemed ready for more violence.
