Evening on the eve of a storm 3rd of the Coin of Fortune Somewhere off the coast of Aebrynis
Tali swore as tendrils of light flashed across the darkening horizon, only for her words to be drowned out by the deep rumble of thunder moments later. Dark clouds hung heavy in the sky above and already a stiff wind howled past the high elf’s ears, and though the waves that had begun to lap at the edges of her boat were an annoyance, it was the thick, almost physical tension which hung in the air that were a cause for concern. Tali had spent enough years aboard the Grail to read the signs. A storm was a coming, a big one, and it was coming fast.
Oh, how she would kill those mongrels when she returned.
That morning the sorceress had volunteered to go along with a shore party sent from the Defiled Grail. While their purpose had been to search for supplies in a nearby town though, Tali had gone on a rumor that the local library held an ancient and revered set of scrolls. Magic scrolls. It was enough to pique her curiosity at least, and while the other pirates carried equipment and food to the rowboats, she had leafed through withered parchments in search of anything of use. Which she found none of. It was with disgust that the sorceress discovered the scrolls to be little more than a farmer’s almanac, and the magic of knowing when best to sow beans or rear a swine was near an insult, let alone useful to her.
Not only that, but the sorceress had lost track of time. It was only when her candle had sputtered out that Tali realized she had spent nearly the entire day locked within the library, and when she emerged, the high elf found the rest of the crew had already left for the Defiled Grail. Without her. The worthless sacks of fleas were kind enough to leave her one of the rowboats, at least, but Tali’s already sour mood had worsened considerably at the thought of having to row all the way back to the Grail alone.
Add a storm to the mix, and the sorceress was now downright murderous.
Another sharp crack of lighting and thunder lit up the sky as the sorceress picked up her paddles, and even as she began to row the first drops of rain splashed against her palms and face. In front of her eyes the shore town was only a black smudge in the distance, while behind her was the gray open sea on one side, and a series of rock cliffs jutting out into the water some ways off on the other. Nowhere could Tali see the Grail. The high elf expected that the ship was hidden just behind the cliffs near where she had left the vessel, but even in her anger she was wise enough to realize something. Returning to the Grail was no longer a matter of when, but if. A big if. Fingers of ice slithered their way down Tali’s spine as she continued on, and a feeling the sorceress had not felt for some time began to well up deep inside her stomach. A feeling she bitterly tried to suppress.
Fear.
OOC: Hope this is okay Keeks!!! If something is off, especially with the date, please let me know and I'll change it. Also I'm sorry if this is a little passive in regards to Cari, but I figured at the moment Tali would have no idea she was there!

Cari loved the water, but even she liked to get out of it every once in a while. The life on a Naiad nymph was apparently very boring if you only did what you were supposed to – Cari didn’t like to be boring. Not anymore! So, she ventured out into the closest city that she could find. She didn’t know exactly where she was, or where she was going – she just wanted to get somewhere.
Alas, it was not to be this time. There didn’t seem to be any adventure like the one she’d shared with Halulahi and the other fellow (she could never remember his name!). Cari made her way dejected through a town’s square when she noticed a woman. She looked very troubled, but more importantly she had blue hair! Blue! Blue was Cari’s favourite colour, and if this wasn’t a sign from the deities that she would get to have an adventure, then Cari would never come up from the waters again. (Of course, this wasn’t true. Since meeting Halulahi, she’d known she loved people!)
Cari followed after the woman. She didn’t have the courage to chase after her and call out, so she decided to just tail her for the time being. Besides, she loved people watching! She’d done it for almost as long as she could remember.
Cari observed the woman, who seemed to be very frustrated or angry, stumble into a boat and row out to shore. “Oh no,” Cari said to herself. “Doesn’t she know it’s about to rain? The water is the last place most people would want to be right now.” A streak of light ripped through the sky, and the loud boom of thunder rung out in all directions. It was a sound that Cari knew all too well.
It was a sound that meant danger on the waters.
Cari darted towards the water, dropping any illusion that she knew how to run like a two-legged person and instead transformed into a spear of ethereal liquid. When she reached the ocean, she blended in with the water and quickly travelled to where the woman’s boat was. There wasn’t time to dawdle. She flew through the water until she was underneath to woman’s boat – which was a considerably smaller boat than she was used to. It certainly didn’t look like it was capable of staying upright in a storm.
“Hey there!” Cari called out, surfacing from the water directly in the line of sight of the woman. She didn’t want to risk startling the poor woman and having her fall overboard. “There’s a storm coming, you know. This isn’t the time for a boat-ride!”
She didn’t mean to be rude, but she’d seen many a soul along the bottom of the ocean that didn’t belong there because they did not respect the ocean. The ocean is beautiful, but she can be terrifying when she’s angry.
Well, terrifying to other people. The ocean was always beautiful to Cari.
