uinn chuckled a little and shook her head, "Ah, of course, of course--" She moved towards him, quickly observing how his muscles defined while taut, and then grasped the ropes from Kapu, her hand and arm brushing against his out of necessity and excitement. She relieved him of the need to hold the lines steady, and then made quick work of tying the ropes off with experienced knots to keep the sails taut with the wind.
"Sorry 'bout that, got myself all in a tizzy with it all."
With the lines tied off, she moved to the front of the boat, where the rails tapered off to the sleek bow. Sitting with a huff, she dangled her legs over the edge, her arms stretching off behind her, relaxed as a clam in muck. As they sailed across the canyons (some of which were so deep, they cut right through Vieri entirely, threatening a fall to the surface of Fortuna if one were a clumsy sort), the sun worked harder, cutting through the chill of the winter with a promise of spring. It made the air glisten, the moisture just caught between cold and warm, building a sheen that made the setting look nearly dreamlike. It was uninterrupted by structures, or settlements. Just a wide open space, a thick wild whispering danger and promises of adventure.
Kapu was perhaps as intrigued with Quinn's appearance as she was with his, though on the complete opposite side of things. While her eyes fell to his muscles his own attention was on her outfit - it was elaborate and heavy and covered almost all of her skin, and what skin he saw had no visible tattoos. It looked uncomfortable, but that was just from his very different point of view.
He knew people out here were different, but each person he met was still even more different than he had been prepared for. Different from himself and his own people but also different from each other. Th people in Dirys were different from the people in Submiere were different from the people in Vieri. After all his years of education and training, he had never truly understood the world outside the island. He couldn't imagine it even when he tried, because his only experience had been with the island and his own people, and no amount of hearing stories about other people and places could really make him understand the way he did now that he was here.
She took the ropes from him with a not-uncomfortable but perhaps unusual level of physical contact (he was used to such things at home, but from what he'd seen out here so far people didn't like touching other people, or at least not people they weren't familiar with) and tied them off so neither of them would have to hold them and they could be free to move about the ship. Quinn knew a lot of words in common that Kapu did not. He had thought his language education had been quite comprehensive, but he supposed that in the years since the last Uhane Holo they must have added new words. Like tizzy. He was at least fairly confident he could figure out the meaning by context and the flush that still coloured her cheeks.
Once that was done she went to the bow of the ship and he followed behind, observing the different components of the vessel as he did. He wondered how she had gotten the ship, and if it had come with all of the secret compartments and the speed booster or if she'd had to add those herself. Quinn sat on the edge of the ship, legs dangling over without a care in the world, and Kapu elected to stand nearby, taking in the view. From above they could see for miles in every direction, and below them were startlingly deep canyons that in some places seemed to go straight through to the other side. He likely would have flown over them had he encountered them on foot. The canyons were not a challenge of the Uhane Holo, though he was interested enough in them that he would like to come back after the jungle trial. Get a closer view. Maybe dive down through the canyon straight to the other side, just because he could. To feel the rush of wind through his wings.
'One helluva view,' Quinn said and Kapu nodded appreciatively. After the thrilling but harrowing windmill adventure the calm was incredible, and the view was even moreso. "The world holds more beauty than I had ever imagined," he replied. "You must have seen so much of it, with a ship such as this." He wondered if she travelled the world in this ship, flying over hills and valleys and mountains and canyons along the way, looking down at the patchwork fields and sapphire lakes and frozen tundras, picking up other strangers as she went. It would be an exciting life, he thought.

uinn felt a swell of pride at Kapu's words, feeling almost solely responsible for showing him the marvels that could come of her world. But pride didn't satisfy the curiosity she had about his world. Then again, she supposed there was plenty of sky to sail to get to the middle of the country, which meant lots of time to get to know one another. Perhaps she could invest a little time in self-love. "You have no idea," She whimmed.
She leaned back a little more to see Kapu behind her, his form even more foreign when looked at upside-down. Her smile was cheshire as she continued, "I've seen a lot, outside and in, above and b'low. This old girl's seen storms and sunny days, and gone deep into places you wouldn't believe. Ancient catacombs, abandoned temples out in the jungle, hidden caves upon frosty mountains.
"Always been a bit of a rolling stone, ain't no place in the world I'd rather be, so I just keep moving 'round. ...I've seen a lot - but not everything, not yet. You're a prime example of that yourself, Kapueo."
She claimed he had no idea, and he shrugged agreeably. The world was a huge place, and while he had seen a few small parts of it his journey had only just begun. He hoped to see as much as the world could offer him before it was time to return to his island. His gaze was still fixed on the view as she spoke again, and he tried to imagine the things she had seen. Ancient catacombs, temples, caves in mountains.. it sounded like she had been to a great many places and from the look of things she wasn't done yet. A rolling stone, she said, and he nodded as he thought of the common phrase they had been taught about rolling stones and moss. When she said his name at the end he turned his attention to her and cocked his head curiously. "Your sky ship can take you to a lot of places, but not everywhere. How long have you been travelling like this?"

"F
reely?" She let her eyes cast to the sky, and ran her tongue on the inside of her lip in thought, "Not as long as I wish. Took some elbow grease to get this kind've freedom. It's not... built-in like your's, from what I know.
"The life I was given woulda been a dull one. I'd have never seen anything beyond sky and fields... My horizons limited by what I could see. T'woulda been a worthless go of time spent not[ thinking 'bout how big the world really is, a pointless existence spent hunkered down and naysaying potential. Adventure. You get that, Kapu?"
