There is an inherent kindness to Liesegang that rarely gets a chance to show. After all, there's little room for kindness in this midst of revolution, and a fight against tyranny. No, Liesegang's inherent kindness and desire to help may be what drives her to fight at all, but it also creates a hurdle that she must jump when she needs to choose between the cause, and the individual. [break][break]
While she may find it difficult to define those decisions, once her choice has been made she becomes stalwart on her path. Immovable. She is driven by purpose, and will stop at few risks to accomplish what she believes to be right. [break][break]
Liesegang has never had a life in which she could be light-hearted, or carefree. She takes every situation with a severe grain of seriousness, not really understanding jokes or attempts at humour, even for the sake of optimism. She finds it difficult to work with others who lack the gravity of the situation her, and those around her are in, and would prefer to work alone than with someone too carefree and chaotic.[break][break]

[attr="class","appheading"]APPEARANCE
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
Liesegang's natural form is striking, even among the Afazahn humans that she mostly runs with, who are known for their striking looks. Her flesh is mottled with sandstone, charcoal, and polished brass, and carved into defined lines that mark her beauty. Her nails are made of obsidian, and her flesh is spotted with mole-like spots of additional stone. [break][break]
Liesegang's hair is a wild mass of wiry black tangles which seem to be coated with some kind of dust from the sand - though the dust comes from within, not from the windy desert plains. She lets it exist on its own, knowing that the stiffness of her form translates to it as well, and merely keeps it in place with a single band crossing her forehead. [break][break]
She tends to wear less than the typical Afazahn, and less than the others she fights alongside with. Where they protect themselves from the harsh sun, and piercing sands of the desert, Liesegang bears it, only seeing her sharpest lines erode to smoothness over years of exposure. Her typical wear consists of a simple cotton wrap of an unassuming colour - black, or brown - though when needed she covers herself in full regalia, including a veil, to hide her identity.[break][break]

[attr="class","appheading"]HISTORY
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
Liesegang's story begins before her birth, as the time she was born into is what has defined her life. That time, of course, is the current age in Muerte: The rule of Elias Harel. An age of unrest, division, hatred, and fear. Her mother knew that fear intimately, and made plans with others like her to escape Muerte, in the hopes that Dirys would show kindness on their arrival, and harbour them from the dangers of the desert's new King. [break][break]
Liesegang's mother traversed the desert with a caravan of refugees, fending off giant scorpions, hungry xankwile, and the painful sun and piercing sands. It was a deadly journey - so deadly, that by the eighth day, only three had survived, and they had been separated. The woman who would be Liesegang's mother crawled across the deserts, growing hungry and thirsty and more desperate, stopping only when she saw a small cave that she prayed would be respite from the sun, and uninhabited. She was mostly lucky. The only inhabitant of the cave was a dao, a genie from the plane of earth who had been trapped there for many decades. The dao was pleased to see the woman, and particularly to see her desperation. He told her that, when free, he could give her food and water and help her get to where she wished to go, but trapped he had no power. She agreed to help him. [break][break]
He had lied.[break][break]
The dao had grown weak, and had no power. All he could do was steal enough of her life-force to escape back to his own plane - leaving her empty, except for her womb. There, the mere contact with the dao had left her with a child that would come far more swiftly than a normal human child. [break][break]
The woman, Liesegang's mother, left the cave disoriented and unable to speak. She continued walking the desert until night fell, and there she collapsed onto a dune. When the sun crested the hill, the teamster of a caravan spotted her, and brought the camels near to take a closer look. Seeing the woman was with child, and so close to labour, the teamster and her companions took pity on her. They shared with her most of their water and food, knowing they could survive better for the rest of their journey than the woman, and brought her to a small afazahn village positioned near a perfect oasis. There, they left her to birth her child, which she did not live long enough to name. [break][break]
The afazahn villagers took pity on the woman as well, and raised the child as a ward for a year, until the caravan returned to check in on the woman. In sympathy for her death, and something which touched there souls with the child, they chose to remain and raise her together, removing the burden from the human villagers. As they took her, they asked her name - and the villagers told her they had not chosen one. The teamsters chose: Chimwala.[break][break]
They were a diverse group, the caravaneers: Loxodon, dune elf, orc, human, and stood out in the small village made wholly of the afazahn. It was only fitting that Chimwala was just as strange.[break][break]
Living near an oasis was both a blessing, and a curse. In the age of Elias Harel, the curse seemed all the darker. The oasis meant the village was useful to him. Their position on the route out to Dirys meant that it was of even greater use -- a perfect place for a military supply stop. When the government finally claimed the village, Liesegang was only three, and one of her fathers - a loxodon named Tomtom, who had insulted one of the guards - was placed in a stockade upon a mesa not far from the village, and left to die in the sun and heat. One of her other parents, the orc woman named Tuknah, broke the law to bring Tomtom water, and was whipped and exiled for it. Tomtom died, and Tuknah was never seen again. [break][break]
Her other parents, Feldspar the elf and Njeri the human, kept quiet and followed the law, to ensure that Chimwala wasn't abandoned. They raised her from that point on, attempting to instill in the young girl a sense of order, of keeping her head down and following the law when eyes were on her-- but doing good acts when they would not bring her to harm, just as they had done in raising her.[break][break]
Chimwala took only some of this to heart. As she grew older, she learned the truth about Tomtom and Tuknah, and grew angry. She had been robbed not only of her birth mother, whose name she did not even know, but of two other parents. She saw people in the village everyday oppressed by Harel's guard. She saw the prisoner transports that carried through the road by the village, the faces she saw as innocent behind those bars, chapped and sweating from the heat. She could not stand to let this Elias Harel continue to run innocent people into the ground.[break][break]
She left the village to travel to Euryd at fifteen, where she hoped to meet the Eurydians. It was a dangerous journey across the deserts, especially at such a distance, but her camel was fast and she was strong enough to carry enough food and water to keep them both for a week. Unfortunately, food and water would not stop The Black Cloaks.[break][break]
Three Black Cloaks were camped near Euryd, just off the road, and clear on the indirect path she was attempting to make -- they spotted her before she them, and gave chase. A young girl travelling the desert alone was as good as a Eurydian to their boredom, and they decided to make a game of her. Hunting. Torturing. She was lucky to be as close to Euryd as she was -- she was lucky that she fought as hard as she had. She survived long enough to be saved by the Eurydians, who killed the Black Cloaks and offered her aid. And soon, she found herself as a new member of their people.[break][break]
With the help of the Eurydians Chimawala developed her natural talents from her dao heritage, and learned more of the elemental plane of earth she must have had some connection to. As she mastered the ability to use the sandstone of her body to merge into the sandstone that most buildings in Muerte were constructed of, the Eurydians saw her use as a spy. When she was told what she would be doing to help the cause, she was excited, but terrified. Feldspar and Njeri were still alive, still her family. If she was connected back to them, she knew their lives would be at risk. She needed to disconnect herself from them... And so, she changed her name, her identity. No longer was she Chimwala of Tomtom, Tuknah, Feldspar, and Njeri -- she was born of stone. Raised of stone. She was... Liesegang.[break][break]

[attr="class","appability"]➢ One with the Dao[break]
Stonemeld. Liesegang can use the magic passed along by her Dao heritage to meld with stone that she touches, allowing her to easily hide or to pass through walls. [break][break]
Stonesense. Due to how in tune with the intricacies of stone Liesegang is, she can sense small changes in it. Particularly, she can sense movement made on stone (like footsteps coming up a stone hallway) through the vibrations. In addition, she can identify different type of stones, appraising their breakability and worth.[break][break]
Stoneself. Her body being made somewhat of stone, Liesegang resists physical assaults on herself, in addition to the searing heat of Muerte's desert sun. She also needs less food or water than a normal person, and has a stronger carrying capacity.[break][break]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Inherent Magic[break]
Liesegang holds a natural talent for Transmutation magic, having the ability to shape stone, or change it in minor ways - such as adjusting the colour or lustre. She can also turn concentrated areas of dirt or sand to mud, or perform the opposite magic.
