[attr="class","appcontainer"]
Vincent can be quite succinctly summed up as being incredibly serious and no-nonsense, with a stoicism that can leave many people wondering if he feels anything at all. His poker face is second to none, and he lets very little on his face betray when he is bothered, concerned, or even interested. An expert at keeping his cool in even extreme situations, he is fueled by a steely resolve that drives his actions and a talent for singlemindedly focusing on a goal once he's decided to pursue it. It is this dogged aspect of his personality that helps him to remove everything unnecessary from his thought processes, allowing him to stay in constant control of himself.[break][break]
As with all people, he has layers that lay beneath his icy, calculating exterior; he possesses a deep love for family as a concept, and the loss of his own is a huge part of what has pushed him to be as motivated as he is in his current life. He also abhors injustice, inequality, and has an extremely black and white view of morality. Starkly inflexible, Vincent is often of the opinion that if it does not agree with either himself or his employer, then it is wrong. And if it is wrong, it must be cut out of life. If there is room for reform for those committing the wrongs, then it will be pursued; if there is not, then they will be cut out as well. He can also have a bit of an overprotective streak with individuals whom he has come to care about.[break][break]
Vincent is also egotistical and prideful, though this may not be immediately apparent due to how close he plays his cards and how cool-headed he constantly remains. But at the end of the day, he has a habit of looking down on others for any number of reasons, from the moral fabric of their lives to their intelligence. To some extent, the high opinion he has of himself is certainly not undeserved, however. He is a certifiable genius, having received extensive education from his parents in engineering, chemistry, advanced mathematics, linguistics, and a number of other fields, all of which he excelled at. His brilliance is also well-applied in his ability as a strategist and tactician, and he's even taken the liberty of repurposing several of his parents old inventions over the years to aid the SSPB.[break][break]
In spite of his incredible level-headedness, there are times when even he can be pushed to points of extreme anger or desperation, especially if certain buttons are pushed hard enough, and his arrogance in his own skills can often leave him heavily at a loss should he be caught thoroughly off-guard, as rare as that is. But in these situations where he is pushed into a corner and driven to legitimate anger, he often becomes rather ruthless, doing everything necessary to survive and ensure that the person who put him into such a situation is made to pay dearly for it. Essentially,anyone who can successfully back Vincent into a corner had best hope they can finish the job, or else they won't live to regret it.

[attr="class","appheading"]APPEARANCE
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
At 6'1", Vincent is a tall man with a frequently impassive expression. His complexion is on the more pale side - at first due to his original residence in Artavia, and subsequently a result of his frequently being indoors (or just out of the sun) even after moving to Submiere, to keep himself as unseen as possible. He has a lithe build, well-trained in combat and general fitness, with a focus on speed and dexterity as his preferred physical skillsets. He has a head of black hair that often has a tussled look to it, his hair being one of the few things about himself he doesn't bother wasting time perfecting. He is also mildly near-sighted, and so wears a pair of spectacles as well. In spite of this, his striking blue eyes have a sharp, perceptive look to them, and he is rather capable at picking up small details.[break][break]
His style of dress is kept very unassuming in general, often favoring very simple ensembles of shirts and pants that are easy to move around in while maintaining a somewhat business-like look. He may occasionally include a vest in the colors of the SSPB standard-issue uniform if he is expecting to be seen around the offices, and carries his badge denoting his standing as well - though he rarely shows it unless absolutely necessary, as his rank is something of a secret. When out and about, he usually covers himself up in a traveling cloak, though he'll only raise the hood on the garment if he wouldn't appear overly conspicuous doing it in his current situation, or if he absolutely needs to keep his face hidden. He can also frequently be found with a long-barreled pistol on his person, a specially-made weapon that fires highly-compressed, deadly bursts of air instead of bullets; his weapon of choice.

[attr="class","appheading"]HISTORY
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
The oldest son of Roark Belus Laeretti and Alexandria Laeretti, a pair of famed inventors from Artavia's past. Vincent's parents were very well-known as brilliant scientists and engineers, and they were some of the largest contributors to Artavia's most recent age of technological advancement. It is perhaps because of this that they, and their entire family, were targeted. [break][break]
None in the public know who the attackers were, nor why specifically they did what they did. If the Artavian government knows anything about it, they have not been forward with the information, and have publicly cited the tragedy as an ongoing case. But years ago, a highly organized group of individuals raided the Laeretti manor in Artavia in the dead of night. There are some who reported having heard the clamor. And come morning, the manor was a charred husk of its former self, and the scientists and their children had all been massacred. Or at least, that's what most believed.[break][break]
Vincent remembers that night with haunting clarity, and it keeps him awake more nights than he'd ever admit. Vincent cherished his family above all else - his older sister, his two younger sisters and younger brothers, his parents; they were the most meaningful parts of his life. Helping his parents in the lab, assisting his sister Cecilia with directing the household, playing war games with Lucas and Lyra, teaching Melodia the lessons he was learning in his advanced classes, and of course, looking after and protecting his youngest sibling, Endless, who practically clung to him. Endless often received odd looks or apprehensive attitudes from people outside of the family, and Vincent always knew it was because Endless was what their mother didn't want him to ever know about: a moonborn, those supposedly fated to die. Vincent shared in her concern over the subject, and it was perhaps because of this that he was almost obsessive in his desire to protect his youngest brother. He felt like Endless needed him more than the others, needed a proper shield, and Vincent spent much of his time drilling into Endless the same values and principles he held for himself; values of justice, morality, fairness, and in ensuring everyone could live life without fear of danger.[break][break]
One can only imagine the standard Vincent held himself to, and how crushed he was when his family was destroyed. And none can fathom how much personal responsibility he took over the matter, how much he blamed himself over his own failure to protect what mattered most to him.[break][break]
On the night when it was all taken away from him, Vincent was still awake when the attackers came. Power was cut to the Laeretti manor first, and the assassins moved in swiftly. The family had a sizable staff, and this staff was filled with people who had also been trained on duties as bodyguards. They fought fiercely, but this group of assailants... they were in another league. Whoever wanted the Laeretti family gone had taken no chances on who they gave the job to. One by one, members of the staff fell, and Vincent wished to take up arms and to help defend his home. His father stopped him, though, eager to reign in his son, who at the time was a rather hot-blooded individual, easily riled and prone to dumb mistakes of passion. Vincent tried to object when Roark advised him to flee the house, to find the safehouse area in the nearby wilderness. But Roark assured him - promised him - that it would be fine. He had been working on a new machine for a situation just such as this, to defend their home, and he assured Vincent he would handle the situation. He just wanted to make sure Vincent would be safe, just as a precaution, and he told his son that his mother was already gathering up his other siblings and giving them the same instructions.[break][break]
Begrudgingly, Vincent did as he was bidden and fled. What he would never know was that his father had no such machine, had no assurances whatsoever, and was merely trying to ensure the survival of a son he knew was too hot-headed for his own good. Vincent returned home in the morning to find the manor reduced practically to cinders, and the bodies of everyone he loved were little more than ashen skeletons.[break][break]
He was devastated nearly beyond repair. He wished he was dead himself... but something kept him going. Outrage. Hatred. Furious conviction. Vincent found himself consumed in the wrathful want, a need, to discover who had been responsible for this horror, and to make sure they paid the price for their sins in the most torturous way possible. Vincent wished to make them face just and appropriate payments for their crimes, paying in full not just for taking away several lives, but for leaving another scarred with everlasting misery. [break][break]
Vincent's admiration and ideals of justice had made him aware of a man named Markus Woodrow, in Submiere, who had recently risen to social prominence in the news for his resurrection of his fiefdom and his reputation as a paragon of justice. Vincent had taken to idolizing that man, and in the situation he now found himself in, he felt that he knew what he had to do. He left Artavia, never reporting his still-living status to any authorities who were looking for remnants of the Laeretti family, traveling as a ghost until he reached the headquarters of the SSPB. [break][break]
In a bold, potentially suicidal move, he broke in. He employed all of his vast wits and intelligence, his extreme aptitude at strategizing, and his knowledge of anatomy to aid his very limited combat knowledge, incapacitating several employees and, to everyone's shock, making it all the way to the desk of Woodrow himself before guards had finally managed to tackle him to the floor. Vincent looked up at the surprised man, forcing his face up from where the guards were attempting to drive it into the carpet, and bit out a demand to Woodrow; a demand to hire him. A demand to use him. He told him he was Vincent Laeretti; he was a dead man, a ghost, and no one knew he existed anymore. He had nothing; nothing left to lose, and only a burning need to punish those who had taken it all away. They would never know him, never see him, and he would be Woodrow's finest tool, the one most hidden and most efficient. He would follow Woodrow's every order to the letter. All of this in exchange for a new life. Vincent demanded this of the man, claiming that if he was truly the advocate for justice he claimed to be, then he had no right to refuse. [break][break]
Evidently, Woodrow was impressed by what he saw. He ordered his men to let Vincent stand. And when he shook the young man's hand, he told him that from that moment forward, his life began anew. [break][break]
It has been eleven years,and since then, Vincent has become Woodrow's most trusted employee. True to his claims, he is a ghost, an unknown entity. Even within the ranks of the SSPB, few people know Vincent's face, and even fewer know hat standing he holds in their organization. To many, he is just a random employee in the branch, seen and perhaps spoken to for brief moments before he quietly excuses himself. This level of secrecy is vital, as even the SSPB is not immune to spies, and only the most hidden weapon can be effective at weeding them out. He performs his missions for Woodrow in secret, missions that require absolute discretion, and he apprehends and executes criminals that never see him coming. Only similarly high-ranking officers within the SSPB know just who he is, and it is their job to ensure that those who aren't in the know ask few questions about it.

[attr="class","appheading"]ABILITIES
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Genius Intellect[break]
Vincent has a brilliant mind that is more capable than most, and he has extensive knowledge on a great number of academic and contemporary subjects. Knowing things is his business, his talent, and this extends as an excellent ability for reading people and gauging their intentions. It's very difficult to fool Vincent.
[break][break]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Sumish/Artavian Military Training[break]
As an adolescent, Vincent received fitness and combat instruction from Artavian military officers, brought in by his parents at his own request, so that he could learn to be effective in combat. This training aided him in gaining entry into Woodrow's offices, and upon enrolling in the SSPB, Woodrow had him trained further in Sumish methods, making him a very effective combatant. He also took to strategy and tactics with flying colors, and he is an extremely potent planner.
[break][break]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Marksmanship[break]
Vincent is a very good shot, well-suited for the use a variety of different firearms, from older-model pistols to Artavia's more recent advancements. His preferred weapon is a special gun that fires compressed air with as much impact as standard bullets.
